  1. You want to worry more about those above us taking pounds out of our pockets rather than those 'below' us.
  2. Not at all, I've always said hard graft pays and I have no time for the feral, feckless and long term useless. It's more your interpretation of what I type rather than what I actually type. Apart from the few times I've used the NHS I can't think of any time I've taken out of the system that I've paid into for most of my working life, no child benefits, nothing. What I do realise is there are people less fortunate than me.
  3. When the German substitute came on holding a note I thought it was her shopping list.
  4. Stoke is the same, it's rough beyond what I remember. The amount of beggars and rough sleepers in the city centre is out of control. The few times I've been in I'm hassled for money, when I tell them I've no change it turns into an argument. Strange times.
  5. North Midlands, North Eastern parts of the country suffered at that time, and still do. Moving back here, even though I'm out in the sticks is an eye opener for me.
  6. Long time ago Rich, Stoke was full of lads ringing cars back in the day, the DVLA are way on top of it these days. Most nicked cars, caravans, motorhomes are away over the water to be ringed/broke abroad these days.
  7. Similar, left school with nothing, made hard work of my early life, got out of prison and worked on the roads before working on the water board, then moved on to working for a private pump company, then going on to work for myself. A good mate who is sadly no more got me started, could I have done it without his help... I'm no sure.
  8. That's was when things were on trend...
  9. @difflock what's this emoji about?
  10. The thing is we've moved on, people move away from the family home/area for work purposes, it's not like it was years ago where people didn't move away from the village/town they were born in.
  11. Last message to you on the subject because you talk like a prick, what about the old and infirm who live in villages like the one I live in, ten miles from the nearest town, the only shop is the village shop/post office, bus comes through one day a week, where do they go, let me tell you, they will go to the village hall when it starts operating as a warm bank in September. Not everyone is a dosser.
  12. I agree they are a good idea, as for food banks I don't know who uses them. I do know the Royal Stoke hospital has opened one just for NHS staff.
  13. I doubt it, do you burn more fuel in the winter to keep your house at a comfortable temperature or do you go cold and think, well we managed 40 odd years ago so we'll manage now.
  14. Warm banks coming to the UK this autumn, these are places people who can't afford to heat their homes due to energy costs can go to during the day. I'm sure 30p Lee (Anderson) will tell people they can heat their houses with one log and a lump of coal a day in 2022. Before anyone jumps on, when I was a young kid we didn't have central heating and upstairs was bleeding cold, but that was 40 odd years ago.
  15. It's not old enough to have a MOT.
  16. Like most things in life, it's who you know, not what you know. My mate bought a new bike recently the number plate that was on it was Illegal, to small, he rang the garage where he has his bikes serviced and ordered a new plate over the phone, no logbook, no ID required. Ok, the bloke knows him but he shouldn't have made the plate without seeing the logbook. First picture is the original second one is the new one, its deliberately blurred so the garage name can't be read.
  17. Sam Tarry binned by Labour for turning up on a picket line, I might be wrong, but wasn't the Labour Party formed through trade unions.
  18. They aren't politicians.
  19. 'They' don't need anymore money, they may WANT more money, but they certainly don't need it.
  20. Everything I said above is true.
  21. I presume you are talking about the Priti 'gag', if so it was intended.
  22. That's an hour of my life I'll never get back, Sunak and Truss head to head in Stoke-on-Dope, well, it's monkey dust in reality. They've not a clue, Sunak said he's already pumped £50 million into the city, that's a start on the demolition of the rundown, burnt out factories, now where is the money to start rebuilding? Truss said she will put, 'spades in the ground' in areas like Stoke, that sounded more like something Priti would say. They are dreaming, the city is toast. I've been in a handful of times since last November and it's uncomfortable even in the day time. I don't know the answers, and I'm damn sure neither of those two do.
  23. I think it was @Hodgeof this parish said he was getting a fair discount by using fuel cards recently.
  24. My pleasure.
  25. I've always had you down as a bit of a tool, you've now confirmed it.
