  1. Sorry for the derail but where in Stoke are you from ?
  2. If i was subbing for someone that was on site i'd be most upset if THEY didn't buy breakfast. And the other way around for that fact. If i have any one else help me I always buy breakfast.
  3. Send a pm to mendiplogs on here.....He likes big butts
  4. Anyone know how to adjust the handbrake on these bloody Jeeps. I'll be damned if i can find any where to adjust the thing. Googled it and can only find the answer on American sites. And they sure aint the same set up as the one i've got.
  5. No one mentioned invoices!....Any work I do goes through the books.
  6. Nowt wrong with paying people cash.....It's up to them if they declare it!
  7. How long is a day ? Does the labourer have to use his/hers own transport ? 60 quid a day!...If i was skint i'd do it. Would you be happy with the money you were getting if you were in his/her boots ?
  8. Mrs egg always blames the dog!
  9. Did the same myself. Then got a brief to write one up for me at a later date. To be fair there wasn't much difference it the two of them apart from the price:sneaky2:
  10. Hi Johny, I know absolutely nothing about tree surgery but i can get to the post code you have given by thumbing a lift! I would need board and lodgings and one and half a day would i be suitable ?
  11. I'm in my early forties and remember it all to well. I was a teenager at the time and work was hard to find around my parts (and i did look hard). Thats why i moved south/east.
  12. What i meant to say was my family were NOT fans of Scargill and yes there was scumbags that bullied their colleagues and neighbours. Mining was a hard industry with lots of hard working class men in the job. Standing up to these sort of lads was very difficult when they all lived on the same estates. And yes i do believe that the government could have dealt with it in a better way. So could the unions
  13. She gave the Forces a 35% pay rise because she was a war monger. The reason that Labour did not reopen the mines was because all the equipment was left under ground and all the pumps were switched off flooding the mines when they were closed. It would cost way to much money to reopen the mines. Just to add. None of my family (alot of them miners) were fans of Scargill. He was as bad a rouge as Thatcher. One of my uncles was on strike for over twelve months, he wanted to go to work every day as did many other miners but the threat of having their houses burnt down by other miners was the deciding factor. Miners were waiting on bridges to drop lumps of concrete etc on other miners cars if they thought they were going to cross the picket line. I can remember more than one miner getting killed by things being thrown from bridges in my home town. Unless you lived in these areas during the strike you would not understand how bad things were. There are still families that hate one and other over what went on at the time of the strike.
  14. I've tried to stay out of this one but my blood is boiling. Thatcher was nothing more than a bully. She bullied her own political party and a lot of the people of this once great country. I come from the north midlands. We had coal mines, steel works and the pottery factories. Thatcher put an end to all of those industries in Stoke-on-Trent and they have never been replaced with anything apart from call centres and distribution centres that pay the minimum wage. As for letting people buy their council houses she should have to be strung up for one of the biggest scandals in modern history. She promised to build new council houses for the next generation, did she? no, she spent the money fighting the Argies. Mrs Egg is from the south and she had no idea what devastation Thatcher caused in the north industrial areas that made this country great in the first place. As a boy I saw my uncles and cousins destroyed by what she did. I could go on but I'll leave it there.
  15. Mrs Egg has just been on the phone to Mendiplogs (Jon) and he told her that he was wearing Marigolds whilst doing the hoovering. Is this normal for a hairy arsed tree man ?
  16. I'll meet you half way Jon and we can have a swap
  17. What goes around comes around!
  18. Will do Ted. Just thought it was worth a punt on here.
  19. It's a 2.5 diesel (orvis model) what ever that means. It's got 11 months MOT and the tax runs out at the end of this month. Will cutting the wire to the speaker make the immobiliser to kick in ?
  20. It's a long story but a mate of mine was storing this 4x4 on someone else's land and he was told to get it shifted TODAY. He's working miles away at the moment so he rang me and said if I shift it I can have it. The reason he has to shift it is the alarm keeps going off which is upsetting the neighbours. It's been into more than one garage to get the alarm sorted but it keeps going off. Apart from getting an auto electrician to sort out the alarm has any one got any idea what could be causing it to keep going off. It will go weeks and be ok then it goes off again.
  21. Whats the difference between a genealogist and a gynaecologist ? One looks up the family tree. The other looks up the family bush.
  22. I look ever so slightly hungover in that picture
  23. I'll be up for that. Where and when is it ? Thanks very much for the wood chip Ed.
