  1. You can see the hypocrisy though? When you used council equipment it was ok, but when one of the lads did it, they were wrong’uns. Typical council manager.
  2. … And show me any lad who hasn’t used the company van for their own means, and I’ll show you a liar.
  3. Another version of you will be doing what you do, running his own gig, not doing all that enjoyable work for £26k while lining your pocket. I’d stick with contractors if I was you.
  4. Few and far between, in fact, I service very few that are gravity discharge.
  5. Not all plants are aerated, in fact many aren’t.
  6. He’s contracted to do 48 hours over three afternoons, nights. Two drivers, they rarely do 40 hours. Plenty of time to exercise out of work, he still plays 5 aside and cricket.
  7. And this is it, our kid drives a rigid truck delivering clothes, clean work for £48k/year. Why would someone be in the woods doing a dangerous job for £26-28k? I’ve been pulled about here for mentioning money, but why would anyone go out in the woods pulling their nuts of when, as my brother puts it, sitting on his arse looking out of the window.
  8. Fair point, the money is where it goes wrong. If Mike wants someone to mold, and fairly new to an industry then it isn’t bad money, but he isn’t going to get a good tradesman who will earn him money at those rates. Rent here for a decent one bedder is £650/800, add on council tax, utilities, car/van and insurance £26-28k is a rare squeeze.
  9. Is this pumped discharge? 6” sounds big for a domestic property… unless you live in a mansion with stacks of people living there.
  10. It would want to be deep for tunnelling, on a domestic treatment plant it would cost a fortune, CN has it right with moling, I’d still keep away from the tree if there are other options.
  11. I’m not sure I understand this, you are not wanting to look elsewhere because the standard isn’t up scratch, yet you’ll take someone with basic tickets and sort the rest? About the money, with rent, council tax, utilities, a single person would be stretched on that money around here. East Cheshire.
  12. As Paul says, Guy has one. He’s just down from Colchester heading for Sudbury.
  13. are you planning on finger drains or discharging to watercourse? Either way I’d keep it away from that tree if possible. It wouldn’t take long for the roots to infiltrate the riser.
  14. It’s going to cost a small fortune to put the bike back together, I didn’t realise that bike is worth 10-12k and I’ve properly bent it. The lad who owns it came over last night, still laughing, tw@t!
  15. It’s a 1996 CR 500 that was a minter until I got on/off it…
  16. Should know better at my age.
  17. I’ll try my best mate, I’ve just peeled the dressing off my hand, where my little finger joins my palm is almost ripped off. I’m not much of a mardarse but I’m sweating just cleaning it up!
  18. Yeah, I’m sorted. Our kid comes past here to get to work 3-4 afternoons a week, and my mate says just ring and he’ll be on anything I need. Not being able to drive is the only sticking point. Oh, and the damage to the bike needs sorting, but that can wait.
  19. The painkillers don’t work then, quarter to 3 and I’m up. My hand hurts more than my knee. Moral of the story, don’t rag crossers about when you’re in your fifties…
  20. Thank you, the doctor said about six weeks. I’m tempted to book a holiday caravan for a few weeks while I can’t work. A bit of R&R wouldn’t go amiss to be fair, it’s been a stressful few months.
  21. Fractured Patella, they’ve put it in a splint for now.
  22. Thinking I’m bulletproof, came off my mates motoX bike, that hard stuff came up a lot quicker than I was ready for.
  23. …but your Oppo thinks it is, I’ve smashed my left kneecap, sickly Is how I’d explain it.
  24. Why does that not surprise me.
