  1. You are correct, point scoring isn't the way to go, Starmer seemed to ask genuine questions when him and Johnson came face to face the other day, Johnson won't be able to bat him away like he did Corbyn, he's way to smart for that. Times like these we need to pull together, whatever party we support.
  2. It's not about being scared, I was proper sickly a few weeks back, I'm not just saying that, there is a forum member that came to see me (probably not the best idea), I was shaking and sweating, this was days after the worst of it. I don't know if I had this poxy virus but I don't normally do ill. I'll give it a wide berth for now and let those who want to crack on, crack on.
  3. Yes, I too used to collect logs along the way, I burnt much more coal mind There is only a couple of reasons to be in town on a narrowboat, you can't go any other way, or you're running short of beer.
  4. I guess we all judge risk differently, I'm also not fat, old or have health problems. I'm choosing to try to keep it that way.
  5. To an extent I agree with you, and I haven't done a great deal different, that said I usually work on my own and I'm used to wearing a mask or BA due to the environment I work in. I wouldn't fancy going into a factory with hundreds of other folk mind.
  6. It seems the country is split in two halves, those who want the lockdown lifted this weekend and those of us who've still got a f&@£:&g brain.
  7. I'd like to know who burns logs on narrowboats, most everyone I know burns coal because they simply don't have the space to store logs. A half decent permanent mooring in London is somewhere between £15 and £30k a year (I'm not joking) and about as big as a postage stamp, that's why I never went down there in my boat. In comparison my mooring in the Midlands cost £30/week and included a parking space, room for a shed and a small garden. Oh, and by the way, you aren't a boater if a) you buy a boat and use it as a flat on the water, and b) you haven't fallen in the cut on many occasions.
  8. I'm not sure I'd want my Mrs going back to teach kids at the moment, the little darlings seem to be carriers but rarely affected by the virus. I'm guessing that risk assessments will be put in place?
  9. This picture just about sums it up, two blokes travel to site in the same van, they are inducted separately then they go on site and mix with all the other trades.
  10. Can we blame the government (not Tory bashing) for the problem, sending out mixed messages? Some big construction sites have carried on working through the lockdown, hundreds of blokes catching the tube and working side by side each day. Boris going around telling folk he'd been shaking hands with people he said he knew had Covid-19, the fella who's name escapes me but he was one of the people that advised the lockdown was caught meeting up with his lady friend. It beggars belief, one rule for us and another rule for the others does not make sense.
  11. Can someone explain to me how folk are going to go back to 'normal' work if the lockdown is relaxed and the schools aren't up and running? Not everyone has the grandparents down the road to off load the kids.
  12. I don't think I've heard such a crock in my life, there are over 2k miles of inland waterways, most of which is empty. In the big cities there are boats packed in, but on the whole, and time of year, I could go days without seeing another boat. To suggest you would choke walking down the towpath is somewhat ridiculous. If there is anything to worry about it would be moored boats running engines to keep batteries topped up when the solar isn't pulling much in.
  13. Google bounce back loan interest rate and see what comes back. Santanders' website is still saying that their interest rates are as normal, but on live chat earlier I was assured it is 2.5% over base, and the website hadn't been updated.
  14. Have you been paid out?, I got confirmation that mine was accepted last night at around 10 o'clock, just waiting for it to hit my bank account. The email said within 24 hours which obviously hasn't expired yet, I noticed on their website that they are now saying 48 hours, not that I'm in any rush, just curious.
  15. Sounds about right to me. If they can't keep hold of prisoners between a secure courtroom and a prison what chance have they got of keeping our data secure?
  16. Serco are going to be looking after the tracking, that's me out.
  17. Around £150 over 6 years. If I chose to hang it out it wouldn't be over a grand.
  18. I've nowt to hide, £10k, 0% for the first year, 2.5 % over base rate there on, up to 6 years.
  19. Tell ya the truth Les, I only miss the Friday 5 o'clock club these days.
  20. I saw that a day or two ago and although it's funny it's also very true.
  21. I've just got an email from Santander, money should be in my account in 24 hours. Cheap, but not free money.
  22. Having known and meet you for more time than I care to rember I can assure you it's people keeping away from you, not t'other way round.
  23. No need for smart arses?
  24. Cambridge analytica springs to mind.
  25. £50, I've sent you a pm with my Paypal details. Thanks.
