  1. I’ve also missed decent fellas, Felix, (Alan) was a top bloke, so was Gary Prentice. Sorely missed.
  2. I was sort of late to the party then. I do remember someone asking who was the first member of arbtalk. You couldn’t make that up!
  3. @Steve Bullman when did you set up this group of fools? You are responsible, you understand?
  4. And still can’t behave.
  5. I’m sure there was a way of checking, would it be 15 years or more?
  6. It’s a good call but I’d still go for the director first, he said it would be sorted, if your scenario is correct the director should have had the common decency to contact Dan to say we’ve put it to our insurer and it’s now out of my hands.
  7. I do plenty of walking and cycling.
  8. I volunteer for the RSPB, after all I’ve spent enough time parked on (not their access road). I do it because I enjoy it, and the ranger Paul gave me a radar key so I had access to the disabled toilets 24/7 enabling me to fill with water and empty my toilet cassette when no one was about to see what I was doing.
  9. I’d throw it back to the director of the truck company that told you it would be sorted, lay it on strong, say something along the lines of, I thought you were a man of your word. Probably won’t get you anywhere but I’d try anything to save myself £12.5k.
  10. Not retired as such, don’t need to work but I’m thinking of doing a few days a week for our kids mate who owns a tyre and exhaust place. I have recently started to get a few bits of fishing gear together again after many years away from the bank. It’s the interaction with people I miss.
  11. Yeah, it’s a garden flat, it’s about as big as a postage stamp, I’ve got a small greenhouse that came off one of the local free sites and I’ve bought a little shed that me and our kid have our bikes in and my tools. The thing is, when I’m on the road people come to speak to me because they are intrigued by people who live that way so I’m speaking to different people in different places all the time, here I see no one and speak to no one. Don’t know if I’ll stick it.
  12. I can’t see this living in a pile of bricks lasting long, I’ve decorated right through, what do I do next? Too much of this will drive me madder than I already am. I’m just not suited to it.
  13. I didn’t go although Plogs offered me a free ticket, next time, maybe.
  14. And that’s it, I was doing no one no harm.
  15. Absolute legend.
  16. You are right, it’s not trivial, ok, being in possession is against the law, but feck my old boots, it was a bit left over from when I was struggling with pain with a broken wrist. The drunk in charge was a joke, when they slam that trap door it isn’t funny.
  17. I very much doubt many would get that.
  18. Read back, this fella has experience in forestry, and much more, he’s got machine tickets, and so on. He’s ticketed up to his boots. He could pull on any construction site and earn decent money without being mugged off by some tree company, hence, I said, stick to his machine work.
  19. Makes ya think, dunnit.
  20. Only on the books does minimum wage apply, if a freelancer agrees to work for less that’s up to them. If people are pricing low that their lookout, it’s not a race to the bottom, anyone can say shove it to the paymaster.
  21. Thinking of going here on my next road trip
  22. I’m not in your trade but my advice is, concentrate on your machine work, a good machine driver is worth their weight in gold. From what I’ve read here over the years, less so for a ground person.
  23. Funny you should say that, mate of mine said run it for a week or so to see if it goes away.
