Back to being serious, technically you can't do what you are suggesting, but I've done it with no repercussions. Get it in writing that you are contracting for the duration of the job, if you are bouncing around doing domestic work this might be a problem.

It's madness, I was talking to a lass who works in the local Tesco filling station, she said they don't know when their next delivery will be because the tankers are being sent to the bigger stores... brilliant if you are miles away from them.

I'm similar, fuel light on and no diesel in miles. It will be red if there is no delivery this evening/overnight.
