  1. nice one max.. i was not too sure about spikes when i first used them, now finding that if the tree is coming down, then the spikes go on.. got mine from my dad, he used them in 1982 to put power lines across newfoundland..

    it's 14 acres in all, this is only the top end.. the real shame is that's the only access, so there's no way of getting wood out...

    sorry , must clarify, the top tree wasn't felled, jsut a lift to reduce weight on the opposite side, the bottom one was felled though, there were wood lice coming out of my spike holes... as for the mono's ian, he is, we'll be leaving 6 standing.. one of which he wants carving....

    and here was the next one.. this one was felled after seeing the state of the base. was amazing how the limb had gone through the sycamore and round the bend.. made a right noise that one...again, any comments on the tree appreciated as i'm learning ... then next was the leaner,,, the one that wanted to kill the treehouse... ended up having to pull it over...

    haha, it might have been ... there's been 8 fells the last two days, as well as 6 climbs,,, am pretty pooped... more video is uploading now, it's taking for ages this youtube lark...... here are some pics from todays little saga's.. any thoughts on this lot? how's the climbing going max?
  11. the tree was in scotland... the top of the tree was poorly from all the weegies trying to get the penny...
  12. i have 200t 12", 230 16"(was free) and a 362 with 18" the 362 is pretty heavy for snedding all day,,, tend to use the 230 for smaller stuff snedding.. the 362 is great, have done upto 28" so far,,

  14. sorry i wasnt implying that you should sharpen chipper blades yourself,, just pointing out the difference with machine versus man.... sorry for any confusion..

  16. bit of a tangent, but bare with me... a company i worked for used to offer ski/ snowboard servicing. now bare in mind that if you sharoen your own edges you could get years of life from a board,,, i personally witnessed that (totally legally and not in any way out of the ordinary) using a machine the edge could be sharpened approx. 6 times before the board was ready for the bin... this is pretty much the same with chainsaw chains,, DIY= get plenty of life. get it done by machine= see the life of your chain reduced to a fraction of the time.... it's one of those things i'm afraid...
