  1. Also it is the cost that sways me. £3300ish for a brand new machine with warranty compared to £9000ish. I am a one man band getting into the industry, I make my money doing conifers, hedges and garden tree felling/removal. I am not big enough to warrant a larger chipper at the moment, if I need one for a requested job then I shall hire one. At the moment I pay £70 per day plus 60miles to hire a mini chipper which is ridiculus, 95% of my customers want the brash chipped and left on site therefore I need a machine that can put the chip where they want it (back garden/behind the garage etc).
  2. Thats unreal! Right gonna get one this week me thinks. I have my CS38 training all week but will hopefully get it sorted before the weekend. Got a big conifer topping/trimming job over Bank Hol sun/mon so will need it for then. Have persuaded the client to keep everything!
  3. Right I think this is the week I make my bloody mind up and get my first chipper. I have to say thank you to Stevie and Ady for turning me away from a trailed bigger machine and join the Wee Chipper Club!! Steve yours is the 14hp version? Is the bigger engine worth it?

    Ady,

Hows the little chipper doing? Decided against anything bigger for my first chipper so hopefully picking one up this week!!

  5. Yes and yes! Slight mower attacks and also a large amount of rabbit presence, almost every trees roots have been scratched at.
  6. Ha not sure either! Anyhow I've re read the thread and understand entirely what you mean and agree with you!
  7. Just googled Cryptococcus fagisuga and that is the baby. What do you think the preventative measures are? It says that removal of the contaminated stem, but as it on the main trunk should be removed all together? The client was wondering whether to remove it anyway as it is swamping the rest of his garden.
  8. That sounds like it could be it as there are some wounds/openings on the bark. Will get some photos this afternoon.
  9. Will try and get some today. Ta
  10. Look at a Beech yesterday that the customer is thinking about taking down. It has a white dusty mold on the trunk from the base upto 25 feet. It is only on the one side of the trunk, anyone give me advice as to what it is and the severity of it please. The tree looks relatively healthy but there is some dead wood in the crown.
  11. Ha! What you trying to say about my dog!? And me!
  12. So your saying that anyone NEW to the industry that has dreamed of being a "seasoned pro" with a passion for trees and the work involved shouldn't be allowed to spend hundreds of pounds going through all the training and assesments as all we are good for is colouring in? Surely that attitude wouldn't do your marketing business as there wouldn't be anyone new who wanted to give you money to guide them in their business start up. Just thought I'd put my 3 pennies worth in
  13. Or even Arb drawings, I dont know about you but I'd pay to have a climbing photo converted to a drawing?! You could even get her to draw before and after pictures of large removals etc??
  14. Here it is on ebay. Timberwolf 125 trailed 6inch petrol Woodchipper on eBay (end time 22-May-10 11:16:32 BST) Def an entec at that price.

  18. I have the Skylotec and love it! V simple with lots of attachment point for equipment and very comfy. Go to a shop and try them both on, I very nearly just bought my harness from a website without trying it on:thumbdown: Tried the Skylotec and the rest was history!
  19. Have you found anyone pal?
  20. Shame it wasn't fpr tomorrow - Ive had to hire one for the day!
  21. Ok, ok! 5" new diesel model, single roller! Thanks Pete.
  22. For what reasons?
  23. Fair do's. I'll see how the chat goes then beat him up!
  24. Yeah hoped he would be soon, I'll try and beat him up a bit on the used ones he has advertised!!
  25. As it says I had my eye on a Greenmech EC150/35D today at an auction. Was a 2003 ex env agency machine that had done bugger all work and was very tidy. Bid to within reach of it but was out bid by someone who seemed like they wouldn't stop! Come on own up! Anyway does anyone know where there is a decent example of a used machine (Greenmech)? Failing that I'll have to stretch for a new-un!
