  3. Guys, I have my CS30/31 and have been doing some climbing but haven't yet done CS38/39. I really want to gain some experience in climbing and general tree work therefore I'm willing to work for very little money to achieve this. I am willing to travel around Shropshire/West Midlands and although I dont want a lot of dosh I will graft like the best of them! Any takers??!
  4. Thanks guys. Won't be getting too complacent about it but happy to have started the process to get me where I want to be! The 'other lad' passed aswell, top bloke.
  5. Oh yes!! I passed!! Had a really nice assessor who didn't put too much pressure on. Both cuts (step and pie) were the best I have ever done! Hung up the 1st one perfectly. Thanks for all the encouragement and advice!
  6. Cheers guys. I'm sure I'll be fine. The week course went really well and only had a couple of bad cuts but the rest went fine. There was another lad on the course who should never be allowed to look at a saw let alone use one, just my luck that he'll pass and I won't!
  7. Thanks for that. Yeah he's a belter, one hell of a gundog.
  8. All, I have my CS30/31 assessment tomorrow, fairly confident but was wondering if anyone had any final advice for me?! Cheers Max

  18. I'm getting fed up off having to do a 75mile round trip to hire a chipper, out of 10 jobs I needed one for 8 of them! What do people recommend? I'm after a 4inch capacity and have whittled it down to a GMech CS100 or JoBeau M400, which should I go for? There is a new GM dealer near me who I'm sure will be able to do me a deal, what kind of money should I be able to get a new one for or would you go second hand? Cheers
  19. Really glad I clicked on this thread. Havent heard back from NFU after the 30 min quote phone call, to a bloke who had the flu coughing and spluttering in my ear! Will try Trust, is that who most of you use???

    Boots!

Guys, Got my cs30/31 next week and need to get some boots. The itinerary says that I have to wear steel toe capped boots. Would you suggest I get some cheapy steel toe boots for the course then something like a pair of airstreams for the future. Or would you go for a better pair of steel toes and use those for everything inc climbing as well? (cs38/39 week after) Recommendations welcome!
  23. Anyone know if there is a decent arb gear shop in Chester? Going for the weekend and have some birthday money to spend!! Ta
