  5. pretty keen on selling that gear ay gusthardts...
  6. also for those of us who work in cold weather! i fine hitch to be the best, spiderjack nearly killed me other week frozen ropes and mechanical gear dont mix.
  7. Good call Rich Rule, crane all the way
  8. crane all the way, save your backs and hard labour. its not a easy task rigging down such a tree and like you say with huge timber is a nightmare. crane is defo the go. do it 2 days and then you got another week to do for work, makes way more sense in my eyes, if you got the work i guess. we use one alot with 48m reach and lifts 1.4tom max reach. but afraid i am in different country but i am sure they are in England too. very fast crane, get the hook direct above the piece every time. allowed to drive on the road and not to heavy cant remember excat weights. i done heaps crane work and this is by far the best i work with, very fast to setup and can still lift big stuff 3ton+,operated by one man but i am sure you another guy with english laws etc or the tickets. but maybe you could email pics to another company and say you are looking for something similar. Hope the pics help and really hope the job works out for you and be great to see the pics. Best of luck:thumbup: p.s if you want i could find out exactly what type of crane it is, also there little bigger one 52m reach. no dramas just takes a phone call, sing out anyways.
  9. very nice speedline there, show how this tool can be use very effectively. well done
  10. you would need to call alot of slings ay Munkymadman? speed line is cool takes bit time to setup but can work extremely fast. and yes good to have a bit of a idea as what is going to happen.
  11. get some new bling, get a ZigZag
  12. haha brillant post, was like a mini story. niceone and so true:) mog
  13. yeah bro, had some problem and came back with a piece of hitch cord. i am quite intrigued about the ZigZag tho. i am sure that will really help you, wicked snowboarding today in the alps by the way. Hope the sun is shining in the Goldcoast:) MOG
  14. thing worth mentioning when discussing these systems. is x2 the load on the anchor point and also if ground man or you cut through your anchor rope against the stem, then its down you go as quick as you like. if rigging big pieces potential to hit rope and snap as it already under tension. Unlikely but the risk are there, i am just saying beware aware. like anything no the limits and dangers, but use to your full advantage too. but this is a great tool and i use it alot. Mog
  15. good call there WorcsWuss, @ Rik thats awesome to hear you are praticing great work there. Keep it up and bet you get it under 5mins now worries. Great to hear guys are doing this:) big pat on the back mate. Cheers MOG
  16. if you take end of rope and put under branch etc on crocth turn it into loop and you can lower it not knots and drop it too ground and then pull all rope out. need a long rope tho, or other option get a good groundie
  17. done that tuttle, but tell you what! whipping it is harder than splicing it. I snapped two needles and now given up, think i was trying to go to close to eye. break test would be interesting tho, trying to find a place atm. not going to use em until i know ay what the go is. not so easy when you dont speak german much and live in Switzerland....keep searching tho
  18. Cheers high scale, but my current place i am living is in Winterthur, which is next to Zurich in Switzerland but cheers for the offer mate. Nice splices by the way, how long you been splicing?
  19. Treescape are there maybe do google search. couple mates from NZ working there and earning good coin. gd luck Ozzy is a good place to be atm. MOG
  20. Very very nice:)
  21. Cheers for the tips fellas, i really like the look of Paul Smith comment. that look like exactly what i am after, as long as the needle isnt to big diameter. will have a look at thoses Bristol rope ones too. i was pretty much doing what mention here, basically its just a proper pain in ass near the splice. How far back from the splice do you think is ok to do whipping? with the lock stitching doing its job? just sometimes if you go so close to splice with the whipping, can take more work than actually doing the splice. mog

  24. Keep breaking needles done 3 now and they all my small ones. thought i post on here and find out tips to not have this happen? i.e what type needles you use? Little tricks? the needles i use are made in england and are sail makers needles, "Forged best cast steel" its says "genuine" it says, make is "smith and son" but the heads keep break where the thread is. if i do it further back on the splice doesnt look right and guess its not doing its job as much. Any help be great, lucky haven't had one go through the hand tho. MOG
  25. true true, might just splice some up and see what it breaks at anyways. i post results on here when i get round to it. also do a locking brummel and see what the difference is, could be pretty interesting.
