  1. Dean, I would say that you will always get condensation as the metal is a far better conductor of heat than air. In the evening especially, the metal will radiate its heat and become much colder than the ambient air temperature in quite a short period of time. Do you agree?
  2. Thats interesting, Did you find the basic leaflets bought in more basic customers maybe after a cheaper job, where as the better leaflets may appeal to a more discerning customer?
  3. Thats an impressively large blade for such a little machine. Stevie, I know what you are thinking and no, your wee chipper doesn't need a slightly bigger sister. I know it looks good but, YOU DONT NEED ONE.
  4. Good bit of advice there Justme:thumbup1:
  5. Sounds scary mate. Or maybe you are exaggerating and it was just a little swing and you are a big girl. Hope it gets better soon.
  6. Not being funny mate but when I'm quoting against people who are cutting corners and not doing the job properly its usually landscapers working from ladders with tools they aren't qualified to use. Seems a bit rich you having an opinion on businesses who cut corners and dont do a proper job. I didn't know everything there was to know about rules, regulations and qualifications when I started my business so I made sure I found out before I started so I did it right.
  7. SUJO, The other important thing to think about as well as qualifications is insurance. Anyone who comes to work with you will need their own public liability insurance (especially important when working in an area with many untrained volunteers). Most self employed people on here will have insurance but anyone who is employed wont be covered for weekend private jobs. It would be advisable to insist on seeing the certificate before you let anyone start work, otherwise if there is an accident you are all in trouble. Not suggesting Hamadryad is not insured by the way, its just that you should check.
  8. Its all about the leaflets, knock something up quick and photocopy it and its prob not worth doing, get it done properly and you will get much better results. Like any advertising, designing a leaflet that will work is an art. Most people get it wrong and so do most pro designers. My advice is give it some thought and do it properly.
  9. The mistake you have made is giving your wife the combination!
  10. Might have known you would have something to say about my effort. Guess it seems like a long time ago that you Arbtalk oldies first posted a picture. Thought u'd like the pic of my bike mate, its quite shiny:biggrin:
  11. Nice one mate, good job:thumbup1:
  12. Thats my testing done. Seems to work ok. I'm so proud of myself now:thumbup:
  13. Another test of pic of different size
  14. It works:thumbup: Sorry about the pic guys, I'd have posted something more interesting if I thought it would work.
  15. Quick test to see if i can work out how to post pics, whilst most of you are out working. Saves my embarrasment when I get it wrong then.
  16. I dont think tidytrees is with us any longer. (And no, I dont mean he's electrocuted himself).
  17. I used the rayco for a while. nice machine but the brake was useless. never used to bother with it in the end.
  18. I thought the dog killed the rat with the chainsaw, I was well impressed.
  19. You and your toys! Do you ever end a week with exactly the same kit as you started it with?
  20. Had to do that, now i'm off.
  21. Politics and religion in the same thread, play nicely lads, i'm off!
  22. Nailer hits the nail on the head, sorry:blushing: Its all about the marketing. If your marketing is sorted your business is sorted, if your marketing is rubbish so is your business. Sorry to be so blunt but Nailer is right 100%. Nailer, what home study courses did you do?
  23. Good job. thats that bit sorted then. Yeh detritus21 got it right first but Hamadryad didn't know that as he had since thanked others for wrong answers. Thats why my post in response to hama was dont complicate it yet, you dont know the right answer. Detritus, munkymadman and wee dee can all consider themselves worthy of a goldfish. Munkymadman, if your kit would explode at 7Kn, get new kit, even micropulleys are rated at 35Kn.
  24. First prize to you. With that sorted its easy to work out everything else.
