  1. People keep mentioning this in feed speed...if its a problem it can be altered surely? And surely the no stress will kick in to stop it??
  2. Correct me if i am wrong...Driving a 3.5t Isuzu grafter and towing a 3.5t trailer within 33 mile of base, i DO NOT need a tacho or O licence...drive outside the 33 mile then i do...
  3. What grease do you use for your chipper/stump grinder? mainly the flywheel shaft of cutter head shaft? I did have a huge box of grease tubes a friend acquired for me but they are almost gone so need some proper stuff asap.
  4. So do i or i will be buying another Timberwolf lol
  5. I heard the bearings are good for 800 hours... same as owt it depends how its treat and worked. You can demo 1 all day long but you wont really know what it is like until you use it day in day out.
  6. What did you think of the TR6? i felt it suited the work we do best. The infeed is on the small side but then again it is narrow access! and i suppose you cannot have everything. You had any problems with it?
  7. Brittip quote got to 6 grand before I told them not to waste their time going any further! It was £180 for a ladder rack! This was on an Isuzu grafter
  8. Will do...its around 4 weeks before i take delivery of ours
  9. Tracks move in to 800mm, their is 4 bolts i believe that hold the hopper on and a socket under for the wiring take them off and undo socket 5 min job max then you go to 800mm. hopper does not stick out that much, its still fairly narrow.
  10. Im not a fan of all that light weight stuff, i can see why they are made for lads with restricted licences. I was mincing around with the Forst because its infeed is smaller than what we are used i didnt think i could feed it as much and as fast but you can chuck it in and it blasts it out no messing. I know the 190 will require less sneding because of the infeed size, but you cannot have everything.
  11. Far as i am aware the only comparable timberwolf model is the tracked 150 and i dunno what they retail at. Their is £50 difference between the TR8 & 190 TFTR. I chose the Forst because of the extended warranty, and what seems like better dealer back up. I have a 190 road tow and i cannot fault it at all, It does genuinely look a good machine but as with anything only time will tell...No trailer with it pal.
  12. What has being wrong with it?
  13. Redwoods kindly brought a tr6 & tr8 to our yard yesterday both are fantastic machines, in the end we went for the tr6 as we do both commercial & domestic jobs i felt the tr6 having the capability to hunker down to 800mm could prove handy for those back garden jobs. It throws chip easily 20 feet and for a small machine the infeed is aggressive, chipping speed is fast and it breaks down unions with ease. Overall forst looks like a well built machine, easy to service etc, and up to date i would highly recommend redwoods service, 3 years parts and labour warranty, their engineers come to you, they will even deliver the new machine to me. And as our machine is up for sale they have promised to loan us a tr6 for a few days while mine is being assembled
  14. Some folk are priceless.
  15. basket could extend in and out. It was too big for the job but it was not an issue.
  16. Would of if it landed on his sweed we asked for a 27 metre articulated boom but as none were available they sent that out in liew
  17. I like that idea
  18. Near misses make you question things and now means my risk assessments contain even more info. Nobody was holding anything . we had the mewp operator and our cutter in a 4 metre basket
  19. This firm likes to let me go on my own then tell me what is what on the phone! not an ideal situation.
  20. Their has recently been some confusion after i quoted for some tree removals on a site clearance job. Do you sometimes send a drawing and location of trees to be removed when you quote for this kind of job?
  21. We had a 45 m truck mount from AFI Uplift about 2 weeks ago. I asked 3 separate people in the office if a chainsaw operator in the basket wold be an issue, NO i was told...driver came on site with MEWP says we are supposed to supply him with ppe before they go up! as no one mentioned this despite raising my concern with 3 different people we had no ppe for him! he went up anyway but later said that if he refused to go up with chainsaw operator then i would still be liable for the daily hire rate! Safe to say i wont be using them again Also make sure your rams are bang on. Our mewp operator was really good but he hit a dead limb with the boom and nearly took his head off when it smashed into the platform!
  22. That was rite good
  23. It could probably carry more than a transit.
  24. I should have listened at school...i could of had a cushty office job by now
  25. genuinely all that tackle & men & fuel experience etc for £900 a day correct me if i am wrong but i always thought the more men & equipment on site = more £££...If you are right and that is what we are up against then i would be far better off doing piss tiny back garden jobs at £100 a throw.
