  1. nice job today removing ivy from a line of sycamores/horsechestnuts. found a nest complete with 3 baby blackbirds hidden in the ivy, roped ivy above/below nest so it wouldn't fall out (had already removed ivy at bottom/top of stem), will leave in place till they have flown the nest..
  2. there is a formula for ram diameter/tonnage, i'll post it up later.. Ed
  3. full suspension is for fairies, you need to feel the ride, i would consider front fork suspension as i have a habit of bending front forks forward on landings, but at least you will get fit with power-sapping rear suspension.. doingy doing:thumbup:
  4. ok so i did it on saturday but thought id post here for continuity.. transfer box rear oil seal has been leaking for a week or two, managed to salvage the shoes and clean the drum, new oil seal and locknut (old one was loose-nylock dead) adjusted up and handbrake works good at last..
  5. yup. was a good do.. everyone was asking me if i was going to restore it, haha no. or if it was for sale- dont think so:thumbup1:
  6. just for fun i took the 'bog rat' to a classic landrover event at local mining museum, think it looks pretty cool next to all the pristine undented show motors.. mines had a tough 56yrs so far.
  7. cmon sean, spike up the bt pole and get a clear shot man..
  8. it is a picture thread so here's 'bigdog' spotting his first deer(s), he ran after them for ages but haha he is too fat, good exercise anyway..
  9. yes but the trees are working on it..
  10. i have a 2003 ms290 and its still going strong, its a bit underpowered but keep it razorsharp and its good for most stuff, you wouldnt want a bar longer than 16inch on it and it doesnt cut fast on big stuff but for sitting next to chipper for nipping branches up its perfect.
  11. im puzzled now too, how does the sand seal it if its on tiles? where does the fire go? its making my head hurt.. im off to lie down (under the landrover)..
  12. another fun childish one is to repeat them word for word until they are bored..
  13. do you mean the cooling fins? shouldn't make much difference if any, obviously air cooling these fins is the only cooling the engine has. if the rest of the fins are clean then you still have a good surface area for cooling. how did the accident happen? i nearly drove over one of my saws yesterday..
  14. any chance of it spreading to nearby very nice huge beech trees? im there again monday and get some pics of layout etc..
  15. that sounds familiar now Tony, the tree is fairly covered in it, right out to the tips of the branches.
  16. i was told what it is, forgot what they said immediately:blushing: apart from the bit when i asked if the tree will be affected and was told it could be fatal. think my short-term memory is shot..
  17. worked late tonight, yes i got jca in to trial treat these trees, customer was willing to pay so why not? i know its only a trial for now but if it works then thats brilliant, and if it doesn't then its a lesson learned from experience. in my mind its the right thing to do as regards testing in the real world. yes the solution used is now stable for up to a week unlike the regular allicin which is useless after 24hrs, it is stored frozen and defrosted before application. nice to do something different for once and will be monitoring these horsechestnuts regularly. i believe testing on stock trees is being undertaken as we speak..
  18. species crossover ash/syc, and an interesting lime -the lime is way over to the left with about 15ft diameter bushy growth so getting near is impossible without cutting, these branches were coming off it and growing new trees where they touch the ground.
  19. haha brilliant and would work too.. its a treatment for bleeding canker in horsechestnuts, still being trialled but good results so far, would expect the wet areas to dry out and hopefully begin healing over. going to keep a close eye on these now. pics showing coupling removal and plugging.
  20. found this below a large copper beech, then turned round and kicked the damn thing:blushing: cant find my fungi book so over to you guys..
  21. oh mozza, blow ya tyre up:001_tt2: don't tell me you hadn't noticed?
  22. why would anyone watch an advert channel? i wouldn't, local rugby club tried to sign me for something similar and made it sound ace, maybe with a felling vid or something but i think it would just upset all the bunnyhuggers.
