  1. proper knotty lumps how do you plan on splitting once you spend hrs and hrs sawing up big hydraulic splitter and time could be done
  2. i have a large log splitter with apparently road tow ok, wouldnt tow it anywhere as its just too bouncy and slow for all time it takes me to winch with small atv winch onto or off a trailer and tie down with easy mod to trailer from engineering place its proper daft to not do it if you have a trailer it can fit on and want to do distance well worth it, can post some pics if folks want
  3. almost exact same post dentist this week
  4. work got an industrial henry type from a company called powerwasher services at laurencekirk, wet and dry - 3 motors! can run one or two or all 3 its not small but its crazy suction and power awesome kit
  5. kaaz mowers are honda engined, mechanically robust and simple and last really well, worth a look. we use at work and as far back as 2011 model still in use all be it less but goes just fine
  6. mostly all masks gone here expect for healthcare settings it seems, docs surgery, dentist etc which i guess is pretty limited and i do wonder in flu season how much was transmitted in a waiting room so perhaps not worst thing smaller places like blacksmith and such havent done masks pretty much from day 1 - do remember i stopped in at blacksmith 2 -3 months into 2020 and was wondering what deal would be, whole lot of them around me for a chat as most folks were hiding and boy they like a yap on a good day. not a worry at all which was rather pleasant. work hasnt done masks for 99% of it at all in offices etc just resteraunt and shop
  7. still burning here and actually burning more as we try to reduce oil use as much as can, later putting stove on today as sun made an appearance where as yesterday on all day
  8. not same splitter but had some issues with mine that made it slow hydraulic filter was horrible so lots of slower, a ram seal weeping, annoyingly had to get a bigger tank as original tank wasnt matched well to pump volume,, hydraulics place checked flow rate and was 19 litres a min at pump and way too small a tank so oil got hot and that kills performance now got a 60 litre tank and doesnt matter how long i run it, how hard logs are never tops 25 celcious in summer in full sun and never drops performance but an oil/filter change will tell you a lot as a good start
  9. having had a stray lump of rotten wood break off a log i was lifting with grab and take out small side window on our valtra i wish work had it guarded even some basic stuff, glass doesnt take that much to pop it
  10. That looks amazing! Needs a video doing some lifting to show off that crane
  11. thats true electric prices are getting horrible, now i know sod all about solar so i hate to imagine how many panels to be worth it, can they go on a garage roof instead of house? garage roof only has about 20 degree slope, hate thought of adding to house roof as its a windy site and dont want to compromise roof structure any. its all a totally new topic to me so any folks with an idiots guide please post,
  12. so i rent out one semi detached house, older build but well looked after. no chance i can bring to a C without i suspect many many thousands of pounds into solar. its already fully double glazed, roof well insulated. would have to rip up wooden floors and under floor insulate to improve a wee bit, rip out new kitchen to get cavity done - which i dont like as older houses need to breathe. very effeciant boiler with all new thermostatic valves on radiators, led lighting throughout. solar may get me a C but cost versus return means i be in debt many years to do it so not really viable.
  13. cold here now and finally wind dropped after storm last night - devastation on a truly unreal scale. huge areas in scotland minus power 28 hrs on or more and damage is just unreal spent hrs with boss today cutting open estate roads to allow emergency crews in if needed to residents, weeks and weeks of work making tidy/safe and thats ignoring the new motorway sized hole through a plantation of sitka more timber than we can possibly ever use just in stuff we have to clear, suspect we still be clearing trees next december if out of way a bit they get ignored for now. Please let the weather improve i hope
  14. maybe a min or two longer needed there but has to be a good pink/red with nice sear on outside, cant beat a good steak
