  1. The oak certainly looks the part! As I said to you Adam, judging by the 120ft lime, yours has to be 100ft+ Now to organise that cedar again with Ian. I'm sure our measurement last time must be wrong
  2. Just had a look at a couple I've got. One has big eyes, the other has small:confused: both from the same supplier Probably pot luck as to which you get but yeah you should get a crab through either, dmm shadow gets through the little one with ease. How were you planning on stiffening it?
  3. Could've been a stunt dive. It's better on your risk assessment, no saws needed:thumbup:
  4. I use a sequoia, strop on the right, saw in the middle or left, depending on whether it's clipped long or short, redirect sling and biner on the mid left. I've just got the petzl top to go with it. A; because I use a chest loop all the time B; to see if it helps keep the harness on when carrying a bigger saw. I wear mine low and loose and have little waist to hip variation, not a good combo for keeping it up!
  5. Check out the other downloads on there, full of info
  6. More? Awesome, I thought that was the lot. Looking forward to it. ps You bugger, I was going to have that pic as my avatar!
  7. Yes mate, just a quick one...I'm at work:D http://vtio.org.au/Content/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Working-the-Angles-i.pdf
  8. Heard last week of a guy who was srt accessing with a base anchor. His silky fell out and hit the line. I don't think it severed it but I heard it took a big chunk out:thumbdown: Climb safe fellas
  9. Exactly not sure about the spider part though...
  10. It is very nice. If you consider how much you spend on boots/trousers etc, then compare, it's not all that much to spend on something so versatile, despite the wear rate:)
  11. Optimum setup for me would be a combo of uni,rw and lj. If some engineering buff could combine the best features of all three I'd be a very happy man
  12. Ddrt can create the same forces as srt base anchoring, though with a base anchor you can spread your load over several points, remembering angles and optimum loading of course:)
  13. 250 inc delivery. It's a lot but so far, worth it. Yes it's wearing, but mostly on the bottom leg part, so not a load bearing part. Dmc reckons using it with a rw halves the wear rate but I'm a bit reluctant to use them together when the uni does such a good job on it's own EDIT; sorry, from treeworker
  14. Yeeeees! Of course you do! Then get a uni too:thumbup:
  15. Congratulations James! All the best to you both!
  16. Some fine specimens there. Any idea of their girths?
  17. Yeah me too. Had a bit of a splurge last week. Two new bigshot poles, new sequoia srt and petzl top. So now I could have a 14 ft bigshot, whilst wearing my full body harness:D
  18. I hope so. Might take a while to get to the finished product, but no bother, one of them is yet to be born. Due late Feb. The other is nearly four and I keep getting suspicious looks when I measure him up to make sure he'll get inside it:lol:
  19. We're all good to climb the Turkey oak ownership wise, just depends on the local residents. Let us know how you get on Andy
  20. Will do mate, I keep meaning to get down there. Maybe summer time and I'll take you up on the local's tour of Kew if the offer still stands?
  21. Got some spare time today to crack on with the project. I've managed to get most of the inside hollowed out. That took some thought. I was planning on leaving the bottom in until it was in its final destination for strength reasons, but ended up having to cut it out and turn it upside down to get the saw in on one side. The original blue chalk door outline was a bit too big so has become irrelevant now. If I'd have followed that I'd have lost the main pillar on the stair side. I've added a window, which helped let some of the exhaust fumes out when I was inside. There's also a wee peephole through to the stairs. In the bottom at the back you'll see a rectangle marked out, that's going to be a little hidy-hole type thing. Everything so far is just rough sawn, once I've got everything in place that I want, I'll tidy the whole lot up. Just being cautious not to cut too much out yet! The drawbridge is all figured out in my head, next time I've got the post-o-matic out, I'll start making that up too Now to figure out how to install battlements......
  22. Flipping heck! For some reason I hadn't seen that you posted that. Nice work whoever did it. Thanks for sharing
  23. I didn't, but would steer away from lilac thinking about the bark.
