1. It had taken a walloping in the past, but still a lovely tree
2. What a shame, the tree has lost all it's majesty and dignity.
3. No! Now that is a shame. I'm gong to have a look at my photos and see if there are any of it worth posting
4. The Preston twins are quite something, I saw them in leaf a few years ago, well worth a visit. There's another fantastic elm up near the football pitches, sightly raised on a mound. I tried but didn't manage to take any photos that did it justice. Also, there's an humungous witches broom just near the twins in a wych elm:thumbup:
5. Haha, I hadn't noticed that and I have absolutely no idea what it is!
6. Beech mono-lithing. See what I did there? :-)
7. That's a very good point Mark, was only last week I was talking to someone about the axe men effect. A slight rethink methinks:thumbup:
8. That's a cracker Paul. Has a touch of Ace to it. Looking forward to the next installment
9.
Haha, yeah worked that out after a while. How you keeping?

10. Following on from another thread, is there anyone out there with documentary type filmmaking experience or knowhow? Or even contacts in that industry?
11. There's something in the back of my mind but I can't put my finger on it!
12. Hmm, go on then, I'll give it a run. I thought the only thing that foiled my run last year was some little plastic ducks and bouncing when I hit the ground:blushing: Was the only sub ten minute climb I believe though
13. There's nothing to stop you, maybe put together one using a small arb social networking site?
14. I carry one small sling and 2 revolvers. On the odd occasion I need a second redirect I'll take off my chest loop and use that with the spare revolver, and put my chest snap straight onto my shirt
15. Nice one Spoke to Chalky a few weeks back and it may be a possibility next year. We'll see about that. The winnner gets to buy the first round in Gambia:001_tt2:
16. Probably. Or string a zipline from the other trees and work off that, can work well of you get it set up right
17. Climb trees, play drums, spend some time with the mrs
18. Sylva...is a very old book. It's quite a heavy read because the language used isn't what you'd be used to today. It does give massive insight into the kind of stuff that is left out of modern tree books and whilst you will probably learn a lot, most of it won't be of much practical use. A fantastic read if you have the patience and stamina though:thumbup:
19. Very good point, hadn't thought of that:thumbup:
20. Jerry beraneks fundamentals of general tree work. A Bible for arbs, despite certain parts being a bit dated
21. Just to clear up the Zigzag srt access thing. It's in the zigzag experience document on the petzl website. You don't use the zigzag as a backup on the single line. It's in DdRT configuration as an attachment to the ascender on a SEPARATE single rope. Also, with using the zigzag choked on a stem with a munter. The munter is underneath the zigzag, meaning it takes the primary load, with control being enforced through the munter, not the zigzag. Loading is very different this way to using it SRT with the RW, regardless of tether placement and attachment. Climb safe fellas! http://www.petzl.com/files/all/technical-notice/Pro/D22-ZIGZAG.pdf http://www.petzl.com/files/all/product-experience/PRO/PE_D22-ZIGZAG-EN.pdf
