  1. You,re right, problem with reducing HCs though, probably best to remove and replant, Cheers.
  2. L.A.? Yes, knee jerk? possibly
  3. I rated it as a possible failure and serious injury on our limited risk matrix, and suggested an annual re inspection. It failed, only limb mind, 2 days before reinspection date.
  4. Hi, Anyone out there responsible for managing urban Horse chestnuts that are showing signs of pseudomonas. I,ve surveyed hundreds with similar symptoms-exudate, partially occluded lesions, yellowing leaves, partial upper crown dieback etc. and left all but the most severe standing. Now one has failed and totalled a car, no big deal nobody hurt, but suddenly i,m negligent even though,as I pointed out, if I took out all similar trees I will be removing scores of them. So how do you lot manage your HC trees. Sorry about the rant but I,m genuinely interested. Cheers

  10. Yes It,s over the whole canopy, I thought about mineral deficiency but similar trees nearby are unaffected. I read about Horse chestnut being affected by apple mosaic virus but can,t find any pics.
  11. Councils use the miscellaneous provisions act to force landowners to remove damaged trees that could impact on the highway, I don,t think that applies in domestic situations, you could go with an actionable nuisance but that will probably involve legal proceedings. The landowner has a duty of care to maintain his trees but I don,t know how this works in domestic situations. Sorry, not much help.
  12. Hi, Followed your fine instructions, and hopefully a pic. may appear, only one however, I,ll try to get more if needed. Cheers
  13. Sorry, but embarrassingly I have failed miserably to attach photos, Help may be needed. Cheers
  14. Hi, Semi mature Aesculus hippocastanum with mottling, yellowing and inter veinal chlorosis? Tree is healthy, but with minor signs of pseudomonas, Mineral deficiency? Trees of similar sp. showing no effect. Virus? Could be apple mosaic virus. Any thoughts?
  15. Looks a bit like an acacia with juvenile and adult leaves.
  16. Hi, The fact that someone with a higher academic qualification needs recourse to a spell checker is a sad indictment of the standard required. As well as this I find that most spell checkers do not recognise botanical latin.
  17. As the title suggests saw meripilus on a Aesculus x carnea at Kew today, first time I,ve seen it on that. Is this unusual?
  18. Yep, I stand corrected, just looked it up-Taphrina deformans
  19. Yeah, Peach Leaf Curl, Venturia inequalis if I remember correctly.
  20. Hey Arbgirl, The words pride and fall spring to mind.
