  1. Does any one know where you can buy spare screws with the hallam key heads on for the Husqvarna saws. I have always used Stihl but in the last 6 months I,ve bought a few Huski's. The 390xp and the 395xp have both lost sum of the screws, Ive rang FR Jones where I bought the saws from but unfortunately they dont do them, so I,m stuck because all the spares I posses are for Stihl. Any help would be much appreciated Thanks

  7. As I have always been a small business of less than 5 employees, I have never needed this but I have recently set 3 more lads on which takes me over the 5 employee mark and is a must for the company to hold a health and safety policy. Does any one have a Generic Health and Safety Policy and a Environmental Policy I could have a look at to give me sum guidance Any help would be much appreciated Regards Steve
  8. I would say that 300 quid for 2 men, landy & chipper is ok if the work is within 1 hour travel from base, but not to work away. Lads expect a bit more for being away from their wife and kids for a week. Oh yeah1! Its not just for 1 day, theres 3 to 4 weeks work there. Probably would make more sense for you local lads to do the work, there absolutely no way I can do it for 300 quid a day and I,ve not got many overheads.
  9. After working costs for manpower, fuel,food/accommodation, & other consumables, I went to the bare bone and came out with £575 per day and was told that was ridiculously expensive for a two man gang.
  10. Could any of you lot tell me what you would consider to be expensive for a day rate to send 2 experienced lads along with a land rover, tracked chipper, saws and all other gear required for felling pines. Bearing in mind traveling 8 or 9 hours up to aberdeen and paying for all expenses ie: food and accommodation? What would you consider to be a competitive day rate? and what would you consider to be expensive?
  11. After my experience with both the transit and the iveco, I,m afraid I,d have to go for the iveco, more robust all round.
  12. I,d be around the £150 mark aswell, I agree If its not done and tidied up within the hour and onto the next job, its time to pack in.
  13. I ,ve taken down more eucalyptus in the last 6 month or so, not that many seem to have survived the winter we had last year.

  15. After months of not being able to sleep properly and jumping up when ever I ear a noise in the middle of the night and dashing outside with a felling axe in my hand I have decided to get trackers fitted to both my land rover tippers. There being fitted this week and so I was just wondering if anyone could help out with sum advice on which tracking devices are best for a chipper. I was thinking of a type that does'nt need a power supply and you can hide them on the machine yourself Any help would be appreciated And maybe I will be able to sleep at night, Thanks Steve
  16. Truly amazing, I,m going to florida in May, I,ll see if the wife will let me take time out to a a day in California.

  19. Them days have gone now. You has the employer can actually be in the wrong for asking employees to cover up tattoos. A lad where I live had a case against the firm he worked for, for discrimination for asking him to cover up his tattoos whilst at work and won it.
  20. I cant get my head round why for the past 2 years vehicle insurance keeps going up. I have 3 vehicles <1: discovery 3 <2: Defender 110 tipper <3:Defender 130 tipper. 2 years ago I was paying just over £500 for the Discovery 3, and just short of £400 for each of the two Defenders. It went up quit a bit last year bearing in mind I,ve never had a claim and this year I,ve just received my renewal and they want £911 for the discovery 3. £578 for the Defender 110 and £727 for the Defender 130. I've rang up and complained to the NFU who I have used for 8 years now and they said thats the best they can do. how can insurance keep going up when you have'nt had a claim??? Does anyone recommend any other insurance companies to give a try? Forgot to mention both Defenders are insured for any driver over the age of 25 and have held a UK licence for over 2 years Any help is much appreciated
  21. hiflex are probably one of the most comfy trousers to wear but they pull and tear far too easy for my liking, I bought my first pair of stretch air nearly two years ago and they're still plenty of life in them yet. So I,m going to stick to the stretch air from now on.
