  1. Thanks for the replies. Won't be bringing own saw as company I work for will provide. Really happy worth the kit, been trying it out last few days... Trying not to get it too dirty though as I have heard about the problem at customs!!
  2. Finally!! pressed the button and bought all my own personal climbing gear for my upcoming move to Aus. It's all well and good working for a firm that provides all the kit but when you decide to move on you're left a bit stuffed! for anyone thats interested... 3. good point... you can almost guarantee that I will at some point wish i'd gone for the one i don't get! 2M one it is then.. I'm about to press the button to buy nearly £1000 quids worth of climbing kit!! hope i have chosen well, i've thought it through for a while and carefully considered each piece. it's my first full personal climbing kit which I am buying to take with me to Australia next month (previously has all been supplied by work) now just to decide between the sequoia (cheaper) and the tree austria 3, i tried them both today and i liked how light the sequoia was, loads of vents etc. but the tree austria appeared to provide more support!
  4. Hey thanks so much everyone for the replies, some invaluable experience there. think I might go with the fimblsaver as suggested by Ewan, it's a larger diameter rope which is good. am i best to just get the longer one do you think? they do 1.25m or 2m. there is nothing in it really price wise, am i going to find the longer one just annoyingly long?
  5. Could you not retrieve the snake anchor if used with a large carabiner? ie. Retrieval ball clears the crab but not the ring?
  6. I just can't decide!!! somebody make the decision for me please (of course providing reasons) I think i will use it primarily as a cambium saver, secondly as an attachment on stems when blocking down (will they work for this?) thirdly for all the other cool stuff they'll do
  7. this sounds interesting, could you elaborate for me? i like the idea of someway tidying off my fishermans tails thanks
  8. Another one!!? I'll put the word out.
  9. She was a beauty mate, really sorry to hear it. I lost my last dog, a Golden Retriever at 4 years old, hit by a car.. so traumatic and such a loss when they are that age.
  10. Agreed good post Tony. Thanks.
  11. pictures would be great! Where in WA are you based ? have sent PM by the way
  12. Interesting you say that mate, I definitely don't think I'd be adverse to bush work, I'm not much for the city myself. I'm a country lad in the UK and its very rare i venture into the town and when I was over in Aus & NZ last year of all the places we visited, though there were many nice towns & cities, I much preferred the peace and isolation of the less populated areas, I know its not real bush but I spent a month or so working on a farm out in rurual VIC and loved the wide open space!
  13. Hi Alan, Thanks for the info. I am 26, i'll send you a CV out now.
  14. So i've received the envelope for the return of my ZZ. I had been thinking I would treat my self to a new harness and a few other bits with the refund +30% credit. So i can use this to purchase items from the Petzl catalogue (which they send through) of products at retail price... the prices are ridiculous!! example.. Sequoia harness, FR Jones price £185 inc vat Petzl RRP catalogue price £259.45!!!! may as well just have the full refund then!!! disappointing
  15. The appearance of the cut didnt strike me as that having been the case to be honest, looked more like it had been cut back to clear way for the tractor to get by! but I could well be wrong! but as i said either way i'm not poking fun but I wouldnt have wanted to be holding the saw when it split! good 12-14" dia at cut!
  16. Spotted this while out surveying in Stafford area. Not poking fun at the farmers and people who do this because they know no better but this must have given the person holding the saw a fright when it went!!
  17. Hi my boss may be able to do it for you, we are based not far from Shawbury , pm me your number and I can let you know tomorrow when I see him ta Chris
  18. Hi, I follow the nomadic climbers on facebook, couldn't figure out quite where they were located though. i'm in Shropshire
  19. I received this email also and I will carry on using, I fitted rubber gromits to my krabs a week or so ago anyway, makes the whole thing neater
  20. Doing CS41 advanced with Ian next month and done all my previous tickets with him over the Years, very knowledgeable guy.
  21. some good info there thanks. How is cost of living over there at the minute? I had a few months around Aus and NZ last year (2months Aus, 1 Month NZ) and LOVED it and really I think I much preferred NZ for the lifestyle and the country. The wage seems really good over in Aus though, hence why I think I'll be going there instead of NZ in the next few months for work.
  22. there appears to be no Website for an Australian ISA chapter
  23. I would be keen for this if all are welcome.
  24. Awesome, what stage you at? do you know where you are likely to be located? I'm currently being assessed for the visa and have expressed preference for a position in NSW area but i'm not too fussy, they seem to be real keen on getting some people out to WA.
