  1. This is an articulated truck belonging to a mate of mine. Had lots of mechanical work done, just the air brakes, bodywork, crane and timber bars to do now...
  2. Not really a tree pic but I collected my first chipper today
  3. I used to use a 200T with a 16" bar fairly often, found it really useful at times but wouldn't want it all the time and like geoff says, know its limitations.
  4. Just got a 2100 only cut a big beach butt for firewood so far but was well impressed! Anti-vibes are rubbish compared to modern saws but the joy of using it soon makes up for that!
  5. Enjoying this thread so much i'm off out veteran spotting before the sun sets! I hadn't realized how extensive the maps of recorded vet are now and all available online. Great thanks to all those involved in mapping and sharing the pics on here. I shall endever to share a few pics in due course. Matt
  6. Interesting thread... I know an awful lot of people who work in this style. Not my cuppa tea but it works, gets the job done. Please don't try and tell everyone this is the best way of working though! Anything you can do to reduce the risk of injury to yourself, others on site and people property has to be a good thing. Most of these things can be implemented and with a bit of practice also increase your levels of productivity, so whats to lose?!? I can't say I'd be using these videos to advertise myself to either the public or other arbs. There are some seriously good riggers/cut and chuck merchants out there and I suspect you'd feel very much put in your place after and day on site with them. I hasten to add I'm all long way off being a good climber yet but I know that and just happen to be lucky enough to work with some of the good guys
  7. Looks like a good job, done well. Thanks for taking the time to share the pics. Matt
  8. Nice find Did anyone else notice at 1:12 the left handed saw? i cant read the writing on the bar cover to see if it is indeed left handed or an inverted bit of film. Didnt think stihl did left handed saws for a long while (if ever) and inverting the image seems an odd thing to do
  9. Thanks for the replies folks. It all went in the dishwasher and has come out spotless!!
  10. I'm having a bit of a play and have got a saw in bits... Anyway I want to clean things up thoroughly before putting everything back together. The two halves of the crank case can go in the dishwasher. What i'm wondering about is the other larger plastic covers etc, will these be okay with the heat in the dishwasher or are they likely to deform? Thanks Matt
  11. Its a fair cop! Just thought it was worth a share
  12. Here is a sycamore done last summer on a site clearance, the buildings were coming down. To the right of the tree was a house, cars, phone cables. Behind the tree the gap was too narrow so would still have hit the house. Towards the camera the tree would have just reached the road. In the end we used the chipper to pull it over into a gap between to buildings but had to redirect the rope 90 degrees by running it under a fire escape. I think it went rather well! Apologies for the poor vid its just off my phone [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbET_9UdC2Q&feature=youtube_gdata]stunt fell - YouTube[/ame]
  13. It is a small world! Yer I work with them a lot usually. Waiting to get fit again (recovering from shoulder op) then hopefully head out there to see what it's all about. The work sound ace!
  14. Andy sheldon, aka shed and john banner. working on railway clearance couldnt tell you where abouts.
  15. A friend of mine has just got back from some contract climbing in Sweden and was asked to test one. Said it was a good saw but nothing special, 14 bar was too much, they've switched back to using old 200t's for preference
  16. Thanks for that spud! Opened up the low running screw to about 1 and half turns now and its idling and running well. The only slight problem now is if you throttle hard from tickover its very slightly sluggish picking up the revs and i do mean very slight. I'm more than happy with how its running now and have had a little play with the low running screw to try and prevent this but don't seem to be getting anywhere. Any suggestions welcome... I do appreciate everyone taking the time to read this and reply, its a good learning experience, always picking up little tips! Matt
  17. Thanks for the replies guys! I did double check i've put the diaphragm and gasket back correctly but I can always check again. I wasn't going to use it until i have the filter, just try and get it running again a bit better. I did give the impulse line and inlet manifold the once over and they seemed to be fine and I made sure they went back into place correctly. I'll give the diaphragm and gaskets another look and try to find out if the breather is blocked. If that doesn't help i suspect the diagnosis/solution is beyond me. Matt
  18. A friend of mine asked me to have a look at an 021 of his that was cutting out as soon as you opened the throttle. On first inspection the air filter was missing and there was fuel leaking from a series of splits in the pipe between the fuel tank and the carb. Quick trip to my local dealer later and I replace the pipe, treat it to a new carb kit and find out the air filter I have been supplied doesn't quite fit. Reset the high and low running screws to 1 turn which the label of the cowling suggests thinking this might be a good starting point. The saw runs on full choke and half choke but rapidly dies on normal running with or without throttle. Spent a couple of mins tweaking the low running screw once i'd warmed it up a bit but with mo real improvement in performance. Will the missing air filter be causing a lean mix? can I tune to compensate for this until i can get the correct filter? is this wise? Any suggestions/tips very welcome! Thanks in advance, Matt.
  19. Shocking stuff! it saddens me to hear of all these losses. Just got to keep vigilant when out and about.
  20. MS660 at the moment, hoping to pick up a 460 soon though and that'd take over as favorite
  21. Wow oh how i wish i had the space and funds!
  22. I'm somewhere between 9 and 10 stone, I run a 260 and 660. I can happily do any cutting I need with the 660, usually run a 25" bar but also use 20" or 36" on it without a problem. Saying that I couldn't use it all day long. If you're looking for something to use for any length of time a 460 is a great saw and will happily run up to a 25" bar. Hope that helps at bit, not if youre a husky fanatic though!
  23. I've found much the same with the standard mesh filters. Doesn't seem to do any harm, I'd be more worried if I was working in in very sandy, gritty environments but pure sawdust doesn't worry me too much
  24. Was on £6.75 last year as an employed inexperienced climber (2 years experience) with my own climbing kit and ppe though they did pay for replacements. In staffordshire.
  25. When did you last do one dak and who with?
