  1. You cant pass CS38 without demonstrating the 3 knot system, or at least I had to do it and its on the assessment criteria.
  2. cheers guys, It's done the trick:thumbup:
  3. I'm struggling to cut some OP that i've just bought in a long length to have a play with. Usually I can manage to cut cord just by heating up an old knife and it goes through like butter. The heat resistant propertys seem to be causing me problems though. Any tips on how you cut?
  4. We've built a chip box and locker with the bits from Service Metals. I couldnt tell you how the price came out but the range of diffferent size sections they sell allow you to make a luvly custom box. We added 2 air struts off a car boot so the top board on the rear holds itself out of the way, fantastic!
  5. I'm hoping to start aquiring some climbing kit of my own (i currently use my employers). If i record the purchase/firts use date and it is inspected regularly by myself and recorded, can I at a future date decide to start using it in a commercial environment and get it lolered without any worries? I dont want to spend money on lots of kit then come to get it checked in the future and find my paperwork isnt up to scratch! Also, while i'm on the topic of loler. If I get some friction hitch cord and make up some prussic loops to keep as a dedicated rescue kit which doesnt get used other than for practice or the real deal. Even with next to no use do they still need to be retired after the reccommended length of time or can they be kept longer so long as they are in good condition and pass loler?
  6. I did my training at BASE and my assessment on Cannock Chase, thinning Corsican Pines. I'd agree its a very interesting course and good to get into a bit of the detail of felling cuts and ergonomic working. Had a really enjoyable time
  7. What it says in the tittle really. Really pleased with how it all went, including getting home in time for a bit of a lazy afternoon
  8. I cant really help answer your question as I don't know where my boss had his from. I would say, don't bother putting too much effort into getting hold of one. If you're used to using the 200T then the 192T will feel dissappointing. The only thing we ever really used it for was while working from a cherry picker making lots of little cuts. It got so little use we sold it and put the money towards a 200T
  9. I'm 21, I take a packed lunch and flask to work year round and soup as well in the winter. I'm lucky enough to have a wealthy boss who buys the pop and occasional bacon sarnie (not wealthy from tree work i might add). I dont get why people bothere with red bull type drinks, i've never tried one but the smell makes me feel ill!
  10. Very useful thread, thanks for putting the pics/videos up. Its good to see how others get the job done. Matt
