  3. i just think,fell,log,split JOB DONE there cant be any quicker way to dry your logs when you split them[unless you kiln dry them]?

  5. nice stacking girdle,understand the max air flow bit but is it not double the work? youve split and stacked to dry,then when you want it to burn,you have to cut for size,so you have to handle twice. hence- log,split,and stack[handled once]then when needed fill the log basket and burn.-BINGO:thumbup1:

  8. thanks guys:thumbup1: i did take a large limb off a sweet chestnut last year,but because i heared it spiits i give away[i have open fire] i always have and burn plenty of oak,ash,beech and birch and my neighbours buy a barrel or two off me now and again[they have a stove] so they will be having some mixed in,if i get anymore.:001_huh: i also noticed when i cut the limb into rounds how stunning the chestnut logs are,very dark in the middle,also very hard to split[never splits straight,it twists]??
  9. i always split ASAP and stack in a open front log shed[for the air] they season quicker when split

  11. i agree,ive been burning green ash[the day it was cut] and it dont make a sound when burning its easy to split and seems to be bone dry well it burns well for me anyway [open fire]

  19. hi all anyone got a bit of work at the moment,if you have a busy spell or to cover staff holidays,south wales area or will travel within an hours drive i am a self employed sole trader,but at the moment things are very slow [weather not helping?] nptc cs30/31/38/39 [new to climbing passed aug 2010] but love it. cscs card,eusr card full clean licence[pre 97] own transport 4x4 [can carry out off road work]. have subbed for a company from dorset many times since 2008 last winter worked for them for 6 months hedge laying and fencing and worked on previous jobs tree and vegatation clearance [newt and dormouse work] knighton countryside management if you need a ref [they have a website] thanks martyn
  20. walking the dog in the autumn,and found this perfect [penny bun/cep] in a small wood,the were loads,some the size of dinner plates ,but they were all rotten,except this one
  21. hi i payed £686.50 in august this year for cs38/39 [5 days training and 1 day assessment] with proclimber [west wales] outstanding company to deal with,from the people who run it,to 1st class training and fair prices i contacted a local collage and its about £1000??
