  1. dont know what you mean,drive 30 mins to brecon,meet the team,jump in the 4x4s and then a 45 min drive to hereford,cut loads of blackthorn and the the same drive home.....whos having a bad week:thumbup:

  7. just a few pics of a mangled mass of blackthorn,i am subbing for a company,who are working for n/grid these photos were taken on a farm in hereford[peterchurch]where we are hedge laying and fencing,but before we get to the hedge line we have to clear this lot,this farm is in the golden valley and we are working on very steep terrain,with the snow last week and the rain its pretty tough going we are cutting out the blackthorn at the bottom and pulling out with chains on a landy 110,but its so thick its very hard to get at the bottom,i have multiple stab wounds wish me luck for monday ps.the fella in the distance is aled,he had a bit of a basil fawlty moment in the week and beat up his shogan[it could not get up the hill due to snow,wrong tyres]

THANKS I PHONED TED HOPKINS IN BRECON [AS AT THE MOMENT I AM WORKING IN BRECON]BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS IN STOCK AS THEY ARE A DEALER FOR STIHL AND WOULD HAVE TO ORDER I PHONED MY LOCAL DEALER [bLACKWOOD CHAINSAWS]THEY ARE HUSKY DEALER AND HAD PARTS IN STOCK,BUT DUE TO THE TIME I FINISH WORK AND GET HOME THEY ARE CLOSED,SO I SAID I WOULD CALL OVER SAT MORNING WELL?? STROKE OF LUCK TODAY[DUE TO IT BEING MONDAY AND NUTS OFF FREEZING IN BRECON] [VERY HIGH UP ]WE KNOCKED OFF EARLY, MADE IT TO BLACKWOOD C/SAWS WITH HALF HOUR TO SPARE,DRUM,RIM SPROCKET AND NEEDLE BEARING FITTED IN MINS [FREE OF CHARGE]£24.00:biggrin:
  12. just like to say THANKS to all my arbtalk mates with all your help,messages and replys on 346xp problem just like to say saw is now back to health,with new clutch drum,rim sprocket and needle bearing and as a treat new bar and chain tomorrow the saw and i are going to wage a war on a hedge in the brecon becons at the farm that time forgot god bless you all MARTYN:thumbup:
  13. Cheers marc i have a 357xp bought from new,the 346xp was a backup saw,but i seem to use it more?? I think the broken part was long over due for replacment regards martyn
  14. working for a company in brecon hedge laying,they used stihl 60cc machines all went down before this saw but thanks for the info,i think a few of the above combined,saw is old and was bought used so do not know its history,but was well worth the price and its paid for itself tenfold my have been running chain a little tight[hate chain creep] but i would say the main fact is worn parts never mind,new drum, sprocket and needle bearing should be back on the road:001_tt2:
  15. hi age of saw not known,bought off e-bay last year for £150 which was an awesome price for one of these if the saw was unrepairable i cannot complain,because its payed for itself over and over new clutch drum,rim sprocket and needle bearing needed:thumbup: not a major dent in the pocket

  18. yes bearings greased/as bar nose sprocket many,many time i am in my workshed a lot,even more on dark boring winter nights attending to my saws now prob solved,these parts are pence new clutch drum,rim sprocket and needle bearing needed regards martyn

  21. Thanks combined tree i also have a 357xp with15" bar i seem to use 346 more,just a personal choice and my work[being a self employed sole trader]does not under take a lot of large tree work so the 346 is suited to the causs thanks martyn

  23. thanks tree man tom i bought this saw as a used machine last year and i has been awesome to date i bought a 357xp brand new,but when ever i have tree work i always grab the 346xp? its just lighter and with a 13" bar its fab for hedge laying work when you are in close i am in south wales,and i sometimes work on a self employed basis for a company from down southern england[dorset]when they are working in my area knighton countryside management[heared of them]i have done tree and vegatation clearance and hedge laying and fencing[they are good to work for and cover southern england and south wales area] thanks martyn
  24. to dillsue sounds like what you are saying , as i just posted ,when pulling starter with chain brake off there is compression and the chain turns thanks martyn
  25. thanks just used this saw for hedge laying in brecon on a farm,its was fine the company i worked for had stihls [341s 60ish cc 2 of them died on the job and a 181,was going to take home for my 5 year old daughter] back at you??? had huskies for years,this is the 1st time i have ever had a problem at the end of the day this is not a my dads harder then your dad[ie which is best stihl or husqvarna] i would like to say thanks for you reply i would rule out water,the company i worked for did state when i used my saw that the mixture they were useing was the same 50-1 what happening now is when the chain brake is on you cannot turn the saw over[starter cord will not move]if you take chain brake off you can pull stater but there is compresion and the chain moves when you pull cord thanks martyn
