  1. and i am forgetting you get your chipper ticket in that as well, plus a load of experience on the stump grinder and you have a good idea of how a site works before you go into the world of work so i supose there are pro's to is as well as all the con's!
  2. Yeh i see your point completly I do enjoy my theory side granted, no where near as much as i enjoy my practical. But I do think to myself that one day when I am too old and buggered to climb. Some of the lessons I have learnt will come to good use like the business management side which I will do from september, as well as all the conservation management stuff opens alot of doors I supose and then I have the option of going to uni but i think i will give that a miss as well as that you get your cs40 and 41 in your last year which is handy to have but still doesnt offset the amount I have paid to live in etc etc
  3. and to add to that if you want to finish your ND by going back for your final year which i do then its another £3300 to live in again! So its no wonder why people end up working without tickets IMO I'd go into conextions if i was you they can offer you great advice on a whole range of things that may interest you i phoned up today to ask about PTS tickets and even though I am 20 now there were more than happy to point me in the right direction! Connexions Direct - Homepage thats the web address but you can just walk on into your local centre and they may even help you with the costs of your kit!
  4. I know a few lads who have gone to the job centre and got certs that way! Not personally what I could do but I am doing an ND so my tickets are all included in the course and the course is free as i started it when i was under 19 years of age. But the £3300 price tag to live in which was a must was hefty! And then after that the price of kit is expensive as well, get a normal job save up the money and then look into doing then you have the right to say you've ern't it yourself mate! Got no help from my parents and none from the state was hardwork but i knew this is what i want to do! keep looking pal!
  5. hope the book gets chucked at them and it goes to crown court with a nasty nasty judge then there is no limit on the fine they can be given!
  6. been looking into getting this sort of qualification myself! But to clarify would I be able to drive a 3tn truck with a 500kg chipper on the back on me post 1997 lisence? or would i need to go and sit a test? thanks alex
  7. couple of nice vids there pal! few nice falls as well lol
  8. ..when you drive down the road comenting on trees in gardens going 'that'd be a nice job!' or you have the need to when people go 'you just climb trees' to try and explain there is a little more than that involved!
  9. thoughts to the family RIP makes me wonder sometimes what I am getting myself into!
  10. everything you need to make yourself a donner wrap on a nightout in southport
  11. hahaha fnatastic glad he wasnt killed like but even so story to tell the gand kids!
  12. aye why do i want to buy a caravan with no wheels! And proposing to a girl as young as 14 might be called might be abit taboo in the civilised world, but hand it to them that brid from blackburn i wouldnt have said no too!
  13. just watched this and what an absoloute joke of a television program non of them know what an honest days work is in their life by the look of things and the state that aplby was left in was shocking. Hate it how tele only show the bits they want, not the bits about SOME of them being thieving barstewards!
  14. i-ingabrouw of however it is spelt but after a few pints i am now unable to read properly , never had it before and my god its rocket fuel!
  15. I would like to come down to something like this maybe me and a few of the lads from college this year that have stayed at home and not gone abroad even though we aren't fully qualified will we be able to go, or have a missed the point and this is part of the APF?
  16. forgot to mention it in my last post but i was stopped by an officer last night with another arb student from by mine, he was asking if we had seen anyone as a robbery had just taken place, caught one fella with the dog in botanic gardens apparantly asking where i would go if i was a traveler type... dont know if it would be any use!
  17. bit of a feend for bags myself i have husqvarna one whihc i was given when i got my climbing kit but if i am walking to the trainstation in the morning and taking my climbing kit then i tend to use my 75 Litre camping rucksack, But i also have an o'niell camo ski bag, one for holidays that has been made redundant of late so I might try and put it to good use! its like this but o'niell obviously as i cant find a picture its like Doctors Who's tardis,
  18. Just came accross this thread now dave, sorry to hear it. Hope it all gets sorted soon alex
  19. She is spot on thanks for asking! really gets me dressing up as all sorts on book releases and such other public events, going over to see vinne the saint in LA soon tho! Shame every bloke in the UK has my wife on their mobile tho! :001_tt2:
  20. Bl**dy hell I wish I worked for you!
  21. yeh its a good point you make with the extra experience you will get through life even now when i think i have learnt alot on the course when i do work for different companies I learn something new everyday I supose that is what makes the job interesting, but not to interesting otherwise people would start to pay me less
  22. Rupe, I agree with most of what you have said but, I am 20 years old and have all of my own kit even though I am a student all I am short of is a chainsaw. But if a 30 year old bloke came to you with his kit like me and the same experience how you justify paying him more than myself? Surely how hard someone works determins how much they get paid depending on wether they are a climber or a groundie? alex
