  1. thought about it a few times, how good are they when your limb walking laying your chest into the rope for suppport as you go out, you know that situation when your long prussick is hard to reach from! is it too close to your body for ease of maipulation?
  2. Oh no, being born on christmas day must suck! spread out the goodies! Have a good one wee bro, and dont waste too much family time in this mad and somewhat addictive area in cyberdom!
  3. lol, nah mate, i reckon ive shot myself in the foot!

  11. o.k, you guys know what i can do on here, so i am not going to spell it out, I'm a good climber, got the skills, and i am always looking for a better job oportunity. i am open to offers, good ones, and the working conditions/enviroment future training schedule is important to me, as is progression. I am looking for the right job with the right people, no more, pleae pm if interested
  12. i think this aspect could have very good uses in assisting some of the older more fragile vets to go on through. it is after all those last remaining discrete living channels that sustain these old girls, getting a few more going has to be a good idea.
  13. thanks sky, as you DONT for sub terra! caravans a poor choice compared to a funky semi underground "warren"
  14. lol, it might have a double purpose! some good stuff in here, i particulary appreciated the treemagineers pdf. I have always liked the look of eye to eye friction hitches, i have at the moment gone over to an 8mm cordage long prusick tachyon for the climbing, helical hitch for the friction, and this is a great hitch and simple, the knots (double fishermans is nice and compact but the option to learn splicing and make my own eye to eye hitch cords is too good to miss out on. i may do this course myself, but does it certify you as a qualified splicer? sounds to me that it doesnt as a few mention not caring regards to loler? has anyone used the mechanical advantage system described in the PDF doc from the treemagineers? have tried this set up in various forms once but this looks like a good set up?
  15. At the end of the day, right or wrong, the customer is always right, diplomacy can often turn a tonka into a customer and a wasted conversation into a cheque in the bank! swallow the lot, be polite, eat dirt and take their money!
  16. We all know that certain trees in order to be rtained sometimes need a bit of bracing, there are some good systems out there it has to be said. Though none are perfect. What if during a bracing operation, which will need some form of re check/maintanence in the future, we considered the possibility of encouraging a natural brace to form? Might make for a good discussion?
  17. if ANYONE is up for a trip to do this, do drop me a message, i would love to do it, but i cant do it alone, be the trip of a lifetime and a series of photos that we would treasure for ever, and when were old and decrepid we can get them out and say, but i did THIS!
  18. but it is fair to say that qualifications "PROVE" you know your onions, i think you need to combine the two. I know i am learning a lot, and am not afraid to admit i found out just how little I understood about the bilogy before i began "learning"
  19. and a six foot print of that is perfect for that long stretch of wall over the stairs! wicked.
  20. The camera was put in around 3maybe 4 positions within the canopy of another tree, was obviously suspended in a tree first image of man at bottom is on a downward angle, it is a long lens, probably 300mm, hence the field of view. the last image is of the guy at top sorry i mean last image position is looking up at man in tree top, so the position is considerably lower than the guy is standing, IMO
