  1. If any or all of these, got loads of others are of any use Tony I will e mail full res files to you.
  2. Im glad I aint doing the climbing on that day! especialy if Rupe goes! Poor unsuspecting arbs are going to be sweating and making sure everycuts a beauty! God help them and have mercy on their souls!
  3. what a wicked girl she is! brilliant I love Burnham, never stops giving.
  4. Totaly agree with that, a deep gob on a balanced tree forces the fall into a void, like knocking one of your legs out! Depth of cut also helps control angle of decent a high top cut gets the tip down fast whil a shallow gob keeps the tip up till last minute. shallow gobs can really help "jump" a butt and give a fair clearance from the stump when required. I dont really use much fancy cuts, I might sometimes leave a thicker hinge and bore out the centre but its a rare event when i need to do it. back leaners, judgment tells you wether its a climbing job or could be done with mechanical advantage, best off get the tractor! A realy big tree back lean with targets is safer climbed IMO
  5. A man is worth what you are willing to pay, including investments like training ppe etc I would gladly take a cut for an employer who took my CPD as seriously as I do and would commit myself in the long term for it. Despite earlier comments money IS a motivator, or pricework would not exist! Give an employee the oportunity to increase YOUR profitability for an increase as reward and be suprised by the outcome. Just a few to add, maybe of use, maybe not!
  6. We get this all the time, even on ash sawdust leaching out in the rain last week. I dont know what it is, a combination of the oils on the chains or exudates from the wood. it does seem to be more obvious at this time of year going into sap flow?
  7. SWB knows full well i am having a laugh WITH him! And exactly what is it that you dislike about me? confidance in my own ability? Explain what is wrong with that? If I REALLY thought that much of myself i would be consulting now instead of trying to educate myself fully first!
  8. speaking of learning from mistakes, have you any younger siblings? LMAO:lol:
  9. I love it when thier eys roll in their sockets like that, that pooch had a good day! Quality post!
  10. Flippin eck lad! agree he does! You know im just playing with you anyway, payback for my forking about the other day!
  11. I have always found instalation of a pulley far less time consuming than having to make amends for un controlled/expected friction in the lowering line.
  12. Yep and credit due, its a good un in the get out of jail positions. Better planning avoids the need for jail cards!
  13. Just booked a place, should be a goodun, i love Ash trees and think they are very undervalued, Stags love em too.
  14. Whats wrong with using the limb nearest to the point of exit I. e your working side as a pulley rope point so all brush swings to a single landing? I do like it though!
  15. thanks for the heads up John, that looks well worth a day out.
  16. Ever the voice of sanity, eah Tony! Hes right though, and since when did Joe public know what was best? People are quick to judge till they are asked to contribute to the budgets, suggest a contribution and they will all shut up and move on swiftly!
  17. you beat me hands down huck, your a succses and Im a failure (in business), thanks for the reminder! Still wouldnt exchange
  18. I find explaining things is an easier option than letting people asume I am serious! safer easier! youll not teach me about sarcasm!
  19. I think what rupes trying to say is, this is an area you will have to learn the hard way, each business needs a different rate to be profitable, and only you know how long the job will take YOU and YOUR MEN. youll make errors, even seasoned pros do, youll learn what kind of price your competitors are putting in, so when your pricing against say two other firms you already know are way more expensive than you you can raise your quote a little to gain yourself some slack for contingency!
  20. i would be concerned about any image running around in your head SWB!
  21. brown envolopes! and return flights to the carribean! greases any palm! Im kidding guys just kidding!
  22. and your point is? That because (some) folk jack up and burn cars they dont deserve to have trees in thier environment?
