  1. I have always wanted to do a fan trained apple in my garden, might make this a goal for this year, wont be worried about training for it though. What do you mean by "advanced"?
  2. argh and so the Divet chalenge begins! lol I'm gutted I dont have an image!
  3. why should we pay Self employed NI contributions when we as employed pay NI through the nose anyways?
  4. Rhizoecology, run by Andrew Cowen, or battyarb on here, anything you need doing within the rootzone, structural cells, decompaction, mulching etc etc as for fertaliser consider Mycorrhizal's before this is certain http://www.rhizoecology.com:thumbup:
  5. the scarlet elf cup, you lucky so and so.....
  6. Were all getting a lot of great stuff from your posts Paul, or should i call you Mrs Biggins! lol:laugh1: I think your pressence here is going to make all of us look at the way we operate, every aspect, of our day to day operations and thats a great thing. Greater still is a lot of fears loathes and issues that concern a lot of folk are being eroded, if SWB is considering AAAC from this I am sure many others are too, even the small firms. Thats got to be good for ALL of us, as with more companies playing the right game the more experiance Joe public gets of how it should be, and then its going to, year on year slowly leave the others in the shade.
  7. The dog that will love you the most SWB is the one that needs you the most to start with, i dont care about breed, but love terriers all the same, they all have BIG personalities, funny really the smaller the terrier the more it over compensates with character! My ex got a Rotty pup while we was together, molly, she had the sweetest nature. Im thinking maybe two dogs next time, tony's little wolf pack!
  8. Your right of course, but considering the trainees section of the forums population it was well worth mentioning. Stay safe all.
  9. Thanks fella, got a question for all the GPS fans, mine does ten digit references only, I dont know how to use GR of lesser numericals, any clues how i do this on a garmin oregan 300?
  10. Im sorry tommer, its a hard thing to do but it is as my boss said the last kindness we can give them, and it is a kindness, even if it feels like far from it for a while. Im still asking myself if i did the right thing, even knowing full well I did right by him, it takes a lot of heart to do it.
  11. Ok has anyone got any pure Oak woodlands to show here for comparisom?
  12. Wicked post fella, and what a tree. also slasher Just because you cant see life doesnt mean it isnt there! I cant prove it but i bet there is more soil fauna under an ancient beech than oak, due to the more acidic leaf fall of oak? not only that but a great many rare and splendid things prefer beech to anything else, the hericiums just for a start, the olive oysterling too. please correct me with scientific evidance, i welcome this as i can learn from it.
  13. thanks Rupe, and thank you to all that have posted in here, it means a lot to me:biggrin:
  14. I try to avoid rigging off the same stem as the climbing anchor (possible too in this case) It will save your life one day, it did mine.
  15. I think I have to work that day, but I will PROMISE to make the next one, no ifs nor buts.
  16. Buff was rejected four times before I found him, he had been in kennel at the rescue for 18 months or there abouts. It was my sister hazel that saw him first, she called me up to say that there was a dog there that was "just right for me" on my arival I found this aggressive wild beast of a dog trashing his kennel and thrashing wildly. I can understand why others had rejected him, but I stuck my face right up to his cage and put my fingers through the mesh and said "hello sunshine, do you wanna come home with me?" from then on I made it my mission to give him a happy life, one worth living. Whilst it may be true that I gave him the best ten years of his life he also gave me the best ten years of mine, everyone who knew me knew that Me and Buff where inseperable, we simply went everywhere together and if we couldnt go together, we didnt go! It was me and buff take us or leave us, we needed nowt from anyone, and was happy as pigs in muck whenever we found a new woodland to explore together. I do not envy the dog that has to fill his shoes at a later time, for he is a hard act to follow, I feel like ive lost my world at the moment. But I will get over it, will always miss that dog, but i will find a new apprentice as David put it so well, a new apprentice and new woodland trails to blaze.
  17. I wasnt putting it on Parr, just that it shouldnt be classified as of LOW value ecologicaly. as for the dominace of beech, take a trip to whippendell woods, where the beeches have reached terminal age and are on the way out, falling by the score and leaving a lot of biomass degrading across the woodland. Interesting viewpoint you have, and I do appreciate the input, and maybe your right, but in my wood, when the beeches fall, they are quickly replaced by ash predominantly, ashridge however is different again. Every woodland is different in my experience?
  18. These things really annoy me, its bad enough seeing adverts in town, when you get out a bit its nice to see green fields!
  19. nicest rope to use, very similar to blaze i guess, prefer Yales fire for more durability though, I find the tachyon a bit less durable but worth the negative of this to the wieght and stifness of fire. Tachyon is the best rope i find for throwing and advancing, soft light and folds easily.
  20. A lot of my fondest memories will be of my many adventures with Buff, we have walked for many days together, been on some awsome fishing trips and also spent a lot of time messing about with bits of rope, certain am i this is what started my tennis elbow! strong as a shire horse that dog:biggrin:
  21. they are great dogs SWB, good choice. Mine will be whatever needs me when i go look, I love the thought of not just a rescue case but the ones that dont stand a chance due to having behavioural problems. Buff was mental aggressive when i first took him on, was a loving softy after a year of hard work and lots of good walks and lovin, when i took him for a visit to the rescue centre they hardly recognised him as the same dog!
  22. Well, my gut says that is the next thing, go to the rescue and look see, like buff find the one that no one can handle and stands so little chance of a second chance and love it to death till it learns to have faith again. BUT... I have had a ticket for Carthagena lake for two years, with a dog ban it didnt feel right fishing there without buff so ive not fished it yet. Im going to hammer all the Bigguns outta there over the coming season and then look for a new one once ive bagged a 40lb common to complete the mirror common fourties.
  23. LOL, is that a german pointer, brown and white with flecks?
  24. well, PTI this year is the priority, but financialy things ease up May time so might look to do this and put PTI off till autumn when the fungi are out!
