  1. missing photo me on the left my boss mat on the right and jules taking the pictures
  2. i know it is leaning over a foot path and the gardens of flats we recon may not be long befor we may have to go back and fell it. was having a discussion with the boss about bracing as we both agree it shows u have admited to a fault and that is not ideal in public areas. but we can only do what the council ask.
  3. got my set of ali gecko from honney brother got short spikes with mine been climbing on long spikes so felt diffrent at start also got the buckle bottom straps as did not like the idear of the velcro. they are i think the best spikes out their so comfortable well worth the money.
  4. some pictures of me and my boss cobra bracing a pine tree for Sevenoaks council.
  5. yes u can pick logs off the ground by running the wire over the top roller like how i am holding up the spades but when u go foward the spades would drag over the ground (would stop u getting pulled back wards) or u could lift the spades fully up out the way but the tractor would need a lot of front weight to stop it pulling a wheely with all the weight on the back. realy this type of winch is only for draging big timber out in to open areas if u intend to skid timber u realy need a winch with a skiding plate to buffer the logs against and to lift them up. or another option is to pull the timber together with a winch like the cooks then to build or buy a skiding frame to drag the wood out. just my thoughts hope it helps
  6. got a cooks on my major but would never sell it old school winch but still does its job when needed

    first spikes

went and ordered some aluminium Gecko classics from honey brothers should get them Friday. decided to get the best i could afford and to keep them till they wear out. will post an up date when i get them thanks
  9. Looking at getting some spikes for my aerial rescue and for work so far at collage have used bashlin steels with leather top pads found them very uncomfortable while waiting to be rescued and whilst being the rescuer. By searching the forum and found the aluminium Gecko to be well liked also tried some on at FR jones and liked how they fit. Was going to get the Distel Aluminium Spurs - Classic as they have the buckle bottom straps which i think u could get tighter than the Velcro. Also what gaffs would be best for all round use. Any advice before i spend my money thanks

  13. moving some logs with loader and grab
  14. my new tractor ( Big boys toy ) that joins my classic fleet. hope to use it over summer for doing some hay will mainly pull trailer and load with flat 8 hay grab and to do some work hiring myself and tractor out. i also what to use it for some forestory work in the future, what to get/ make a timber trailer and flail mower but need some work for it first. love the sound off it going down the road it roars like a bear and also sitting so high up makes you feel like the king of the road a bit diffrent from driving the fordson major.
  15. id say it was dirt in an injector holding it open so to much diesel so the thick black smoke may be an idea to get them cleaned and pressure tested had a similar problem at work with a lister twin on a peeler was running fine then stopped changed filter which was blocked up. tried to start it again and all we got was a very thick back smock. injectors have been set away for cleaning and pressure testing. just my thoughts
  16. how does the bar perform was thinking of getting one for my Husqvarna 235 currently has 15'' but could do with a smaller bar as it lacks power to pull 15'' quickly and is only used for small coppice and snedding. Is that a power major in the background. I Love fordson tractors we have got 3 and all still work for a living and their older that me. Good old British engineering

    cs31 test

did the test two day did two cuts gob + back cut and a split level both went well. the trees i got to fell where also very good no lean and a good size. my friends had a bit of trouple as the trees they where given where more in the middle of the plantation making the hung up tree harder to get down. but the instructor was very helpfull and under standing and past all of us. so i now hold my cs30 and 31 has any done their cs32 and 33 out of intrest and is it worth doing it.

I am doing my cs31 on tuesday any hints or tips. thanks
  19. this is a link to a map select your area and you should get a list of clubs in the area you could then ring them to find out if they are looking for land and the requirments Directory of ACU Clubs and Centres
  20. If you tell me where the woods are I can give you a list of the surrounding clubs which you could then ring to see if they are looking for land (most are as we get bored riding the same land). also you could look on the acu website Trials News or other motorcycle trials websites and watch some videos on youtube for more info. 21. what about allowing a local motorcycle trials club to rent the land to hold their trials on 5 acres would be plenty of space and you would not have to do any think they would set it up run the trial and then pack up. trials is also quiet so normally no one complains we run standard trials tyres so don't rip up the ground so much and don't have to clear trees as we ride round them and over them. if you want more info I would contact the acu or have a look on line for the nearest trials club. just my thoughts LR90
  22. still bad round hear snow around a foot deep in our field and had to use he mini digger to clear the drive way was supposed to be doing my cs31 last week but we had to stopped because of the snow. so instead been at work running the processor making loads of fire wood. suppose to be coppicing next week. got to love the land rover had lots of fun driving in the snow and going down the country lanes and passed people stuck in their cars and trying to tow some of them out. here's a picture of an icicle on the side of our house and some more of the surrounding area.
