  1. Just started hammering down here.
  2. Blown off today, and not in a way I would have hoped.
  3. Jaffa?
  4. No problem if he did. What would be a problem was if he wanted the people who lived in whichever country to do the same and got upset if they didn't.
  5. Damn, I thought I had disguised that well.
  6. It is sad to say but in the casino world one group of customers did tend to lead to the safe assumption that, in the event of a dispute, it was most likely they were lying through their teeth but then, given they were in a casino, they probably weren't good representatives for their religion.
  7. Although I haven't travelled or worked abroad, I have worked with and dealt with people from many different countries. I divide them on simple lines. Some people are lying, thieving ***** and some people are decent. Colour was never a label that told me which they were. The most pleasant people (and best tippers) who treated myself and all my colleagues with the utmost respect were 2 Arab princes and their entourage while the least likeable were an English dog track bookie and his grasping Spanish wife.
  8. Careful, Mr Johnson. [ame] [/ame]
  9. Did you ever consider that you might not be the one doing the winding-up?
  10. I had to drive to Lisa's parents' house about 5 minutes away one day when they thought some logs had gone AWOL. I was knackered for the rest of the day.
  11. I had that last week, Silky. Knocked me for six and even my teeth ached.
  12. No worries.
  13. Nice to know there are some educated men on here, Mick.
  14. Beam me up, Snotty. All I did was provide you with the answer to your question about immortality. Highlander was a sci fi film and TV series about an immortal warrior named McLeod.
  15. Highlander?
  16. Probably better not to speculate. I imagine what happened will become known before too long.
  17. Condolences and sympathy to anybody affected by this sad event.
  18. Very good post.
  19. Don't ignore the Echo and Dolmar ranges. Plenty of threads/info on the forum.
  20. I've known several people whose upbringing was less than ideal who as adults are most helpful and caring to those less fortunate than themselves. I have also known people whose parents were lovely, caring people whose offspring are/were deeply unpleasant, selfish individuals. It's the old nature v nurture argument but what would make somebody veer from their upbringing in such cases? My comment about paganism was a response to the comment on Buddhism. While I never claimed to be non-religious, I am not a practising pagan but I do think the basic, indeed only, pagan tenet of 'do what you will yet hurt no other' is a good building block.
  21. Agreed. If you need to be told how to behave then your moral compass must be skewiff to some degree through lack of empathy. I tend more to the pagan rather than the Buddhist, respecting nature and only killing animals for purpose rather than sport.
  22. The creed that causes the most problems is the nut-nut one that insists their special imaginary friend is so great that everybody should follow them. Having a religion is just like owning a penis; it's fine to have one and be proud of it but don't wave it in people's faces, especially not children, and don't expect them to worship it like you do.
  23. At least you're killing 2 birds with one stone.
  24. At least give them a try before advocating their removal. There are only really 2 things in life that you shouldn't try at least once; incest and country dancing.
  25. Pretty sure that there is somebody selling them on eBay.
