  9. well the people that live behind them find out that the tree isnt coming down are going to go mental, im doing some work for them tomorrow, as they are really paranoide as they saw the tree today
  10. todays job showed me something very shocking, a customer whom im doing a fair bit of work for, came across a tall ash hidden away, it is in a very poor state, and wont be up for much longer, it shakes from the base in the wind, has a raised root stock on very soft wet soil, half of the tree has already broke away sometime ago and rotted right down to the roots, i have told the customer, and given her a price to do the work its not much cause i already have a lot of work from them but wants me to do the work planned but not the tree that is about to crash on there or there neibours home. how do u stress something important to them??

  16. hi all i have a few weeks worth of work in and around plymouth for freelance workers any one intrested pm me or give me a bell on 07557788360 cheers
  17. going self employed was the best thing i ever did and well best bet is to also source some of ur own work if u are a possition to, shame ur not in the south west could do with a bloke like u
  18. ive done quite a few oaks this year, best bet if its over hanging is dismantling it bit by bit, if it is over hanging a house, where abouts are u baised??

  19. well if the rangers are like the ones i just worked with they will be busy playing hide and seek at world chap standard so the never get back, best bet is to get intouch with the grounds manager, cause these students had one person who was qualifyed the rest it was there first climb, (they were doing the a study about photosythasis at the tops of old trees) they had no idea, some places are easyer than others
  20. i have finished working at a country park and they had climbers coming in from the university, now what the country park dose is get you to fill in a risk assement and well they say yay or nay from there. there is also a farmer in somerset that as long as ur tidy close gates and let him know ur there will let u climb his trees and there are plenty to choose from, its just a case of a) knowing the right people or b) checking places policys for things like that
  21. in some ways u are right but even tho we work for our selfs and we do the graft and work the to are like our boss and like all good workers we can always a some stage or another look at a boss and think well thats a really strange way to do things, or i could do that better of that system is crud, eventualy our confustion comes out with the way things can pan out. my point being that not every one will agree with systems in place and well this is a form with industry pro's on and well not every one will agree with things and people can have a right to voice it some where and tree officers hopefully under stand that ps i might have waffeld that sorry did have a point somehwhere
  22. this thread was not ment to be a bashing at the tree officers they are there for a reason but there are some odd things done around there work, we all have to make a living at the end of the day, and they have guidelines to follow as we do, so if they read this so be it, the main poit i was getting at is what to do about pricing, not the t.o
  23. you starting in sept??? and would u look at going the other way south??? i know how cannington trainng is as i went there myself and well there wasnt much help offered to get into the industry, i would be abble to offer a few days here and there but as i say im south, what tickets do u or this perosn have already and what kind of experiance are they looking for??
  24. dont get me wrong the TO hasnt done anything wrong to me as i keep on the right side, its what i hear from them and other people
