  2. Hi All, Thought I would share this with you. It's my homemade paracord handsaw lanyard. Really simple to make, cost me £2 for the 550 paracord. Just something a little different. Works perfect. Tried and tested!! Now I'm making mini one to dangle from the mirror! Lee :-)
  3. I have been using tapatalk just because I have a few forums on there, I could never work out how to start a new thread, I could only post replies. Can you start new threads on the new ArbTalk app? Thanks
  4. Hi all, Just wanting to know if anyone knows of any Bushcraft groups in Cheshire? Near Delamere Forest? I'm hoping to join one if one exists! Worth a try asking on here I suppose :-)

  7. Hi all, My sister and brother in law have a medium size Horse Chestnut and a small Red Oak in their back garden. They have noticed that this years growth has not been as good as previous years and also they don't look like they used too. I have took a look and I can see signs of moth and whitefly on the chestnut but nothing visible in the oak, please see the attached photos and let me know if you have any suggestions, regards Thanks
  8. Take a look at this page; Certification Explained I hope it helps a little, Most of my tickets are lantra but I do hold Nptc such as stump grinder and climbing, but I have found in the past that some will only accept Nptc, however, I am being told that NPTC will be mirrored by Lantra,

  12. Great suggestions guys, maybe I should go for a nudist squirrel camp! where you can learn bushcraft (nude of course) sorted! I'm getting top marks for this!!!!! student of the year here I come. Ha ha, I am going to start looking into the Red Squirrels, I have only ever seen them in Whinfell Forest. I get quite excited when I see one. Here in Cheshire we are "riddled" with the Grey. Our local park has a massive culling session every 2 years. This is Castle Park in Frodsham if anyone knows it. The townies call it "squirrel park" the ice cream man sells "squirrel nuts" at 50p for a bin bag full!! this is why we have so many of them.. not to mention the tree damage.
  13. I like the sound of a bushcraft centre. I suppose this could cover a huge range of activities. Thanks guys, please keep the suggestions coming. I want to choose something different as I know others will just stick to planting a tree nursery or open it to the public!
  14. Hi All, I am working on a college project and thought I would ask you guys for suggestions. The scenario is not real of course but imagine this: You own a large area of forest near a coastal tourist town. The forest is mostly filled with pine trees which are 15 years old. The land is flat and in some parts "on the hillside" Apart from general forestry practises, what other aspects could your forest cover? For example, Become an rspb nature reserve, become a Go Ape segway centre!, open up an arboretum..... I am looking for the best idea which I will choose to research more information into. Any suggestions anyone? Please help me out, regards Lee....
  15. Hi all, I hoped I would never need to post in this section but unfortunately I need to. My dad had a Stihl 036 stolen on Monday night from FRODSHAM in CHESHIRE. Along with other expensive tools such as 2 Dewalt cordless drills and a Dewalt bench saw. The 036 has a WA6 postcode clearly marked on it and the only other thing we can think of is that the petrol cap looks much much newer than the oil cap. The saw was in a plastic Stihl hard case with a padlock on so were not expecting the case to be around anymore. BASTARDS! Loads of similar thefts in the area involving sheds and garages. One thing which pissed him off is that a really old Black & Decker electric drill was taken too. Some would say they are crap drills but this one was bought for him by my mum when he was 23, he is now in his late 50's!!! Back in the day when my mum saved up every last penny so my dad could have his own drill.... Really upsetting in a way. I am so angry, times like this I wish hanging and stretching of criminals was still allowed. My dad is fully insured but to get the saw back would be fantastic. The shed it was stolen from was part of a fin forest summerhouse which has solid doors and good locks. There were 2 security lights and a locked gate but they still managed to steal the gear. So my note to everyone is make sure you take extra steps in security because it is horrible and I am sick and tired of seeing more and more gear go missing from ArbTalk users. I once read that most home owners upgrade their home security once they have been broken into. Spend a little money now because you need it…….. Any info, please contact me: [email protected] Reward will be given, Thanks all,.......

  21. Hi all, I'm looking for a price please for a chipper and truck for the day.will need all chip taking away. All the wood is staying on site for logs so just need rid of the brash etc, medium size oak which is being deadwood and one limb coming off. Loads of rhododendron being trimmed back. Not a huge job, more of a garden tidy up. Access is off a main road on a large drive. All brash will be stacked ready for chipping, no dragging! I can never predict how much chip will be created but I'm pretty confident that there is no more than one load, please email me, text, or pm me, I'm busy all today and tomorrow but I will try to respond in the evenings, the job is in cuddington/sandiway on the outskirts of northwich Cheshire. My email address is [email protected] text: 07851965163 thanks all, Lee
