  1. Hi all, I am in the middle of an assignment and I am stuck on a question. I know the basic info but I just cant think of how to put it on paper!! The question is: Describe how trees differ from other plants in their growth pattern (give some examples) I am after a bit more than "some trees drop their leaves and some dont" If anyone can help me out and come up with some suggestions, that would be great. Thanks
  2. Plant Minor Nutrients, Does anyone know anything about it?? Hi all, I dont suppose anyone knows anything about MINOR plant nutrients: IRON (Fe) , Manganese (Mn) , Copper (Co) I need to know about their sources and their effects of deficiency and excess on plant growth, Any answers would be great, have been to the library & spent most of the day googling, but no info. thanks Lee
  3. No sorry, these are the only pics and the other 2 pics just show the crown.
  4. Hi all, I have had an email today from a demo firm offering a mature magnolia tree for sale on an old school site. I dont know anything about transplanting so I thought I would pass it onto you guys. I would like to learn a bit about this as I have never looked into transplanting large trees. I am currently a student and any bits of info about anything is always great to hear. There are 2 more pics but I cannot add them as it will only allow me to add 4 at a time. Is transplanting a good thing to do? but I suppose it will be felled if no buyers come forward. We all love trees!!!! Like I said, I know nothing about this and any info would be great. If anyone would like the contact details for this demo firm, please pm me. THE TREE IS LOCATED AT THE OLD FRODSHAM HIGH SCHOOL SITE, FRODSHAM CHESHIRE, WA6 6SP Thanks guys, Lee

  7. Hi paul,

My name is Lee Oulton and I have recently left Old Vicarage to attend college full time doing NA Forestry & Arb (at reaseheath & delamere) We have met a couple of times but I have never introduced myself.

The reason for writing to you is to ask if you need a grounds person for 1 day a week?

I currently have the following Lantra awards:

    Chainsaw Maintenance

    Felling Small Trees

    Wood Chipper operations

    Strimmers / Clearance Saws

I also hold H&S Certificates and I am a first aider. I am currently working towards NPTC tickets for felling and i am also doing a full climbing course.

Spraying is also a unit i will be completing this year.

I live in sandiway and getting to hartford wont be a problem even though i do not drive.

Any info you have will be great,

    Thanks

    Lee Oulton

  8. this service clearly is not for you then. I have never had issues like this with any of my clients. sorry i cannot help you at this stage. regards
  9. Hi, You can add site info such as a description & keywords and this will automatically add to google etc.. this bit is easy. If you want to get at the top of google results, I suggest you look into google ADwords. This can be pricey but gives you full SEO options. I do not deal in google adwords, customers have full control over this. Search google for "Add URL" this also gives you the change to get into the search engines. some services do charge so just beware... There are plently free ones out there which have proved to work well over the years. As for customers with slow connections.. Shame on them!! its 2009 why arent they on broadband yet??? --- however, If you have a slow connection and your pc or laptop is not flash enabled. Customers will see a low resolution version of your website and will be given the option to "flash enable" their pc/laptop - the low resolution version is html and is rare to pop up. I have known PC's with windows 98 to show flash sites okay (on dial up) but of course it was very slow downloading...
  10. The sites are mostly flash. However, you can import HTML snippets such as google maps, search bars etc.. I would say that the websites are 98% flash feel free to ask any questions...

  17. Hi all, Im currently looking for a new challenge in life by moving onto a different aspect of Arboriculture. I am currently employed full time as a groundsman for a local well know tree surgeon. I have worked there for 2 years and around 7 months with another firm. So far I have only gained Lantra Chainsaws & Felling Small Trees and Lantra Woodchipper Operations - I have no climbing experience. In september this year, I am leaving my full time employer to study the BTEC National Award in Forestry & Arboriculture (NAFA) at Reaseheath College and The Forest classroom at Delamere. During this time I will gain the NPTC chainsaw tickets and also NPTC Aerial Rescue. other tickets may be available such as spraying/tractor driving... This course will run 2 days per week (thurs/fri) and I would like to find employment to fit around these days, giving time to study on days away from college too. I enjoy outdoor work and working with trees etc.. I would consider any type of employment which may be on offer to me. My only let down is that I do not drive, Saving up for a test at moment!! Looking for work in the Cheshire area providing it is in easy access via other methods of transport (public, bike etc..) I currently live in Sandiway nr Cuddington, Northwich. I look forward to hearing from anyone who may have some information for me. Regards Lee Oulton (24) Any information would be great
