  1. few from today.... Forming innonotus? On ash Perreniporia at base of Ash And this was in the middle of a field with no trees?.....must have been a stump somewhere?
  2. Yes the canopy is very sparse. Have already submitted to Forestry Commission via Gillian so will await there response. Also told the client that until we can confirm or dismiss AOD the only work to do would be the deadwooding. If it isnt AOD do you think it would be worth doing a decompaction programme? I'm not so sure personally.....think it might be too far gone. Cheers
  3. Nobody can offer any advice? cor blimey!
  4. Went to see this Turkey Oak the other day......It a big boy privately owned. The tree has lots of die back in the crown and very small leaves. The main stem is also covered in these lesions which bear the hall marks from what i have seen of AOD. The tree is very close to Richmond Park where we have cases of Acute Oak Decline. The house was built 3 years ago and is on stilts. From what i gather talking to the client is that there garden is full of builders rubble and the arisings from the digging out for the house etc. It appears that the levels have risen quite substantially around the Oak and i suspect there is severe compaction going on. The owner of this tree is quite fond of it and it is TPO"d although you wouldnt think so judging by whats gone on. It had 3 big limbs removed to facilitate the build. Not sure how they got permission for this and there was certainly no adherence to BS5837. She had a quote from a firm to do a 40% reduction???? I said no way it'll finish it off. I am going to dead wood it as its over a main road but for the long term? Have told her that excavation of the root area would be needed and mulch applied if the tree is to be saved. God knows how much rubble is there though. What would be the best way of excavating around the roots without further damaging. Its a big area. Or is it all a little late now? All advice welcome. Sean.

  11. yea will give you a wee nod....... what was it then??
  12. boots are there for scale....i'm a size 10 and dont happen to carry action men about!! Havent seen any dryadeus.....though havent spent much time in there lately. Seems a little slow on the fungal frontline at the mo from what i can see. Since your oak polypore find I have been waiting to see nigel resident ecologist and the man in the know to find out where they are so i can go and looky looky. Apparently there are 2 trees?
  13. Dont mind about the link at all bundle.....cheers. Look forward to watching it. Todays job.....before and after. Big willow pollard. Felled half the poles onto the bank and the other half into the brook then pulled out with the landy. Nice job....

  17. i mean anybody can see its a mosaic of organic matter. A 1000 journeys come together through time to become one.
  18. a few from today.......had my eye on this little wood near benego Herts for a while now (near my mums.) Once again though had little time but at leats i managed to get out the car this time.......soon i will enter.
  19. Of course me likes it.......odd? ok....me....find it interesting admiring and indeed exploring the often conflictive relationship between the manufactured and the natural environment. You....carrying around action men to give scale and an often surrealistic approach to fungal photography......mmmm kettle, black, pot spring to mind.
  20. anyone know what this flower is called.....weeds ugly.....a weed is just a plant in the wrong place!
  21. Will be doing that for sure david....particularly the big Red oak which I carried out a full crown reduction on. If anybody wants a 'taster' of what jewels the park holds have a trawl through my threads.
