  1. Yea was just for a bit of fun really but the feedback i have had has been good. Its for a friends housewarming pressie. I'm in the process of looking at suitable venues for the exhibition and then inviting submissions. I really want be a celebration of trees through various mediums. Film, sculpture, painting etc. Would like it to be educational as well so thinking over what directions and contributors could possibly be involved. I'm quite passionate about it so hopefully it will all come together.
  2. What will be the course of action for the Hornbeam david? I'm guessing the willow will be reduced to a monolith and the Oak left as is? Secondly can I see the first photo without the labels as it looks a beauty.
  3. Leigh Woods, Bristol. If you go do not be disappointed if it isnt quite like this....it's still a magical place.
  4. Second phase....there is evidence that the badgers have at least found and entered the new sett. Have now fitted one way doors on all existing tunnels at the in use sett. Laid trails of peanuts to the new sett and chucked handfuls down the man made tunnels leading into the set. Old sett will now be monitored.
  5. Council paid £78,000 to allow 5 tpo'd trees to be removed? Surely not? Council blasted over £78,000 deal to destroy protected trees - London - News - London Evening Standard
  6. Printing on Aectate or the a4 sheet that labels come on works really well. The colours are faded on the sheet but once printed stand out more. If varnished/sprayed they come out even more.
  7. Thats what happens when one becomes a hypocrite and goes on the computer whilst still half asleep having dragged the kids off of theirs!
  8. This woman sure can draw.....amazing drawings and etchings of Veteran and Ancient trees.....also she has an exhibition in Kensington, London so well worth a visit i'm sure. Charcoal Drawing
  9. Bell on the collar....cheap, simple and effective at alerting birds to their presence.

    Fungi

    Crepidotus Applanatus perhaps?
  11. This Ash epitomises the term ultimate survivor. Although it appears to be a moribund monolith the healthy crown top left originates from a limb halfway down the stem. Great tree.

Picked up my brand new copy from the library which they have agreed to stock. What a fantastic book. Will definitely be buying a copy of my own. Beautifully illustrated and packed with info.

  15. Anyway I'm a great believer in the old adage 'what goes around comes around'
  16. Unfortunately we live in a world where ethics , morality and doing the right thing seem to be just words. And its not just 'the big boys'.
  17. It will be Oak leaves rather than hessian
  18. Pesky Litter Bugs:cursing:
  19. Well you know how it goes....if any old riff raff had turned up and asked he'd have had the dogs set on him....but a man of my social standing of course...
  20. No chasing arf......in fact the opposite. it looks like I may have been invited by the Lord of the Manor from Walkern Hall to come and survey his private collection of vets for the ATF!
