  1. No i was in a hurry.....still feel a bit wary of touching unknown funghi without knowing what they are. And dont really like removing them unless its a necessity. Should maybe change my philosophy on this one? Hopefully back in the park on Monday so will check them out again

    The barsteward.

The council turned down their application to reduce or fell on the grounds that the right to a view bore no justification. If you dont like the view dont buy the bloody flat!
  3. Pleurotus Ostreatus (me thinks) growing on a Horse Chestnut and 2nd photo growing at the base of the same tree.....no idea what these are.
  4. a carrier bag of sick after the notting hill carnival.....

    The barsteward.

Well although there is the main suspect there is absolutely no proof of course. The council should just have a whip round, raid all the coffers and plant a bloody great tree in exactly the same place and then camera it up.
  6. So....you've moved into your penthouse in a new development overlooking the river. Oh golly gosh you cannot actually see the river because of that Norweigan Maple on the lawn outside. You go to the residents association and vote to approach the council for permission to get it felled...after all it effects others too. But the council say NO....how about having it reduced then? NO. Oh deary me now what? A week later somebody just happened to come into your gated estate and vandaled your tree....they stripped all the bark in the night.....the trees just going to die now and become dangerous! I felled this tree yesterday! Certain people make me sick.
  7. Thats great David....thought I was looking at parts of Richmond Park. When does the estate/deer park date from? What age roughly are your oldest tree?
  8. From a few days ago....
  9. This place is a fantastic day out...took the kids last year and haven't seen them enjoy a place as much as this. There's so much to see and do. Groombridge Place - Enchanted Forest

    prayer tree

This is an ancient sweet chestnut in Galicia Spain. It is within an ancient forest with a 16th century monastry. The monks maintained (pollarded) the forest which lies on a sharp incline This tree is now used as a prayer tree. There were handwritten prayers, photographs, cigarettes etc. Things that people wanted to give up etc. Prayers for sick relatives. 2 photo's show the front of the tree and the 3rd the rear. This was a very special place....i could have sat and enjoyed the atmosphere for hours. The distant rush of the river from the ravine below, the birds, it was bliss.....and then back to reality....3 kids..." stop it will ya....mum, dad.....he's hitting me. no i'm not....this is boring....can we go now?....its just a load of rocks and trees..... Anyone want to swap 3 kids for some decent arb kit?
  12. no i sorted it off my own back....did you know about it? Heres a link....email to book a place. ..The Woodland Trust | Ancient tree events | ATH on Tour in 2009

  20. Do you know this tree???? If so what condition was it in? Was it a justified fell?
  21. Have just downloaded some plans from FC. And kindly received a plan from Steve....thanks for that. Would love to see some woodland maps etc if anybody has them. My exam is on the Friday. And yours? Hows the revision going? Your fungus i.d shouldn't be a problem judging from what i've been seeing on arbtalk!
  22. Does anybody have any examples of any woodland management plans?. Am currently revising for Tech Cert management exams and am doing the course via myerscough so research material has been very limited. If anybody could help me out with examples of woodland management plans/maps/surveys etc it would be appreciated. Many thanks
