  1. possibly are older and wiser, but i would rather be out and about getting my name known, than sitting at home twiddling my thumbs. i dont want to get a reputation for ripping people off for small jobs cause alot of bread and butter stuff is small stuff. as for makeing the downward spiral i phoned up my mate who has company in same area for some advice, he said for jobs like that i would charge 100quid so i did.
  2. i can see where your coming from but i wasnt priceing it so i would get the job, i priced it low as i could because it was such a small job. would feel guilty asking for more on that job. tricky to price little jobs unless you have a few you can group together.
  3. gets your name out there is only good thing about it, or i could price it to make a profit and not get the job and lose out on money cause i drove out there to price for it.
  4. if i had my saw i probs would have thought about doing it, and trying to cram it in the boot of my new astra but id feel abit of a idiot doing that
  5. they want it doing this week, its holiday home there only here this week. i gave him price 100quid he accepted, least im covering my costs.
  6. went out to quote a job today. got there went look at it its tiny yew tree probs 20ft high 10ft wide they want it felled, alleyway is access drive right up along side it. so i was thinking really i dont want price it more than 50quid is fair for it. but realistically ive gotta pay for my time drive to go look at it and back, ive got to then write out the quote etc. then actually go do the job and all in im either gunna lose money on it or price it cover my self and not get the job. so what do you guys do with little jobs like this???? normally id wait till i had loads of little ones and do them all in one hit but this is the only job round that area atm.
  7. never been to good on spelling.
  8. cant say ive seen worse than this so far. cant belive how stubid some people seem to be. where was that tree going to fit down anywhere in that location as a straight fell. shame there isnt a part 2 to show how/if they got it down. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_ZQESgvDQs&NR=1]YouTube - How not to cut down a tree[/ame]
  9. where ever i get brought into a job to climb, i see my self as part of the team i do what i have to do get job done, if that means dragging, chipping and rakeing etc. all good ive never left a job with guys still cleaning up the mess ive made. (apart from when i was employed then i went up the tree crashed it all down, they drive me another job while some other guys clear it all up, then follow onto the next 1 i got taken to.)
  10. 5 for dismantles 2 for 15% reductions 1 for idents which hopefully will go up after RFS course starts in september overall gives me 2.66666667

  17. looks like a simple days work from the pictures. you takeing away the chip and logs or leaveing it onsite? what sort of dragging is it going to be to the chipper?
  18. havent got a ratchet handle, i dunno if it would work cause it has to be able to attach onto the eye on side with the hooks. havent really got a tree use it on atm so its not that bad waiting for it unfortunatly lol
  19. just phoned me back, hes talked to stein and they apologise and there sending the ratchet now so hope to have it next week sometime least they have a prompt service sorting it out shame its just going to sit there teaseing me till i can get the ratchet to use it lol
  20. just got off phone to stanton hope they havent actually seen one in the flesh, so i said i was missing the ratchet and he didnt no what i was on about cause hes never seen one. so he said he will get back to me.
  21. took delivery of my RC-3002 dual today but no ratchet is this a extra or is it my luck again that im missing bits
  22. took some guts get up that one for ya first time, i would have been having a anchor point in another tree with that one by looks of it. good job though.
  23. cheers stevie looking forward to seeing some of your spotlessly perfect reductions soon since your getting into them as much as me.
  24. was looking at the hobbs or grcs, but then when reg said he was releaseing this one its alot cheaper than both, still able to tension just not lift up like the hobbs or grcs but u can use two ropes with regs. sooo overall thought his was best option, will be bringing mine to game fair my mate wants to check it out your welcome to have a look aswell.
  25. couple of little birch trees to re-shape they had been just hacked by some odd job man so plenty of re-growth to work with all silky work and trim a few little conifers back at yard at lunch then came back to grind a few stumps he had finished and home by 3
