  1. i knew you were turning into a gardener you lazy s**t
  2. people can throwline over a branch with a massive cavity on the top of the branch not visible from below
  3. how in them 11years did you not realise that a 3 stage ladder would be so much better
  4. best tip i got told at college, concentrate just above where your aiming for seems to work. also a decent throw line and a 12oz bag make all the difference, i find the 16oz bags to heavy and the 10oz bags to light, also get a cube they make a hell of a difference. also alot of practice. but it will never replace a good old big ladder
  5. them silkys are worse than top handles in my eyes, not many people see the dangers with handsaws till they get cut by one, me on the other hand have had about 10 silky cuts till ive learned get in a better position, or use a little sling and get your hand outta the way of holding it while cutting, here is a couple of mine the finger needed 4 stitches in A+E the other was on my wrist and just let that one do its thing.
  6. looks spot on frosty difficult to do on cherrys like that
  7. even the sales people are getting smarter phoneing up on mobile numbers which is really annoying
  8. i think its to high above your cab roof line, but if it does the job then who is to question it
  9. top quality reduction there. ouchhhhh is all i can say with the last pic looks awful
  10. decayed oak from today, didnt have my 3120xp so the 372 with the 26inch bar had to make do,
  11. few from today, only took pics because client was a real try it on guy, so got pics how we found the tree when we started and when we left. only got me in after accepting another cheaper quote only for them to turn up with a ladder and truck and smashed fence etc he still paid them though then to accept my quote and tryed to tell me cause they had done some of it my costs will be lower, i said my price is my price also i was interested how we cut all the truck down in slices and it was only the very last one that had this crack in it any ideas why this is? stress of the rigging on the tree?
  12. oo yes they work a treat, and with the 18mm hardwood ply boards at 38quid a sheet and abit of black paint it sure is worth it
  13. this is my first little beast now ive stuck a cheap and cheerful box on it already earned its money back, bought it cheap as chips had all problems fixed, simple fixes now its all working spot on.
  14. that would be cutting and holding then
  15. often because branches will go where they want to go, say you can only drop stuff one side of the tree, branches on the opposite side cant just drop. but timber is easy to push off after its been cut which ever side of the tree you wish.
  16. give dan ashton a call his mobile number is 07766746948 i no he wont be able to do it today, but hes a good bloke. and if he cant do it this weekend, try chris hotson 07811334514
  17. just a couple pics of part of my jobs today, nice to sit and have my lunch at a decent manor house for a change. the job on the oak was basically the big low limb removed, get all the deadwood and hangers out, the client left the reduction to me, so i opted for a very light prune only took 3/4 feet off all round,
  18. but if you already have the lowering device on the stem, why take it off when you could use it, no risk of the sections hitting the device since we redirected the line off the ratchet strap, simple, quick, and dare i say most effective way to get it as tight as you can.
  19. was alot bigger stem than it looked, also what you cant see is the patio infront of the camara only a tiny flower bed of soil to get the chogs in. also ian just wanted to play with his new kit
  20. i think the way forward is a 4x4 pick up big enough to get a tracked chipper on the back and then a highsided tipper trailer behind that would be the way to not be over loaded on the basic lisence.
  21. nor do i but i have forgot ive booked in quotes to go look at on saturday mornings they always never match up if i get the job, when i turn up to do it
  22. till you loose it one saturday morning getting pulled over driving hung over from the night before
  23. mine is just a standard single cab, it was a rigid body but has been converted to a tipper with ally buck if that makes any difference to the weight normally.
