  1. first job of the day with gareth dismantling this skinny sycamore it did have 6 stems all dismantled till the last stem i managed to lower the 2 tops off it and all the branches bar 2 little 1's bricking it up it in the gusty wind, would have been alright if didnt all have to be lowered or the wind wasnt blowing. all backleaning over the road managed to fell it fitted perfect if it was to big it would have taken out electric wires, if it had gone backwards would have been through a fence and over the whole road, if it had gone 1 side would have been electric wires the other through the fence, all went to plan fell just short of the wires i wasnt surprised when it landed it just completely smashed to bits, why i didnt wanna be up it
  2. Respect not many would have climbed it!!
  3. dunno what your complaining about gareth you did 90% of that tree from ladders and pole saw
  4. of course not mark i was wearing the new gravity boots
  5. they will come back no dout in my mind ash comes back from a stump, only reason i was willing to do these because i knew they could take it, if it was beech for example no chance i would have done it. finished off today a true lopping and topping, all i can say is i wish people would spend a extra 100quid and get stuff chipped it was a nightmare trying to fight are way through the brash pile
  6. yup topping is about right, client wont be told any different he done a ash him self in the front and wanted these done exactly the same. i went to quote he had drawn a diagram of the trees and a dotted line where he wanted them cut. who am i to argue. these ash are not great by any means nor will they be if they shoot again, but they wouldnt wipe out there bungalow if 1 of them failed again
  7. only got 1 bit of footage was 1 of the tops coming out. shame i didnt take my camara for the 2nd bigger tree the top was awesome on that. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhfbl0hNy_E&list=UUzo9LoGjzU8kvWxI4WK_PIA&index=1&feature=plcp]ash top coming over - YouTube[/ame]
  8. is a pollard classed as a reduction though
  9. been dreading this job for a while, mainly because i looked at the job in a blizzard, didnt notice half the obsticles like the steep banking either side of the trees the little wall at the bottom of the bank, etc etc straight forward job turned into abit of a nightmare really. weather wasnt on are side today either abit cold and snowy, still back tomorow to finish up. couple of pics i did take a shot of 1 of the tops coming off so ill see wat that looks like. couple of pics that gareth took.
  10. thats a big lump of beech mark! you need a helmet cam well today was ment to be a simple couple of pine deadwoods and birch to fell birch is covered in ivy was a right pain in arse left as a standing stem to fell when we have 5 mins next week. the pines were alright part from the 1 closest the road found the top had split out in both directions so had to take top off which wasnt ideal as the top curved right over and had been dead for awhile once i took the top off only to find theres a nice hole going through the rest of the stem still cant really notice its had top 10ft off it.
  11. basically if you have a new 372xpg it will have a i setting or a ii setting the ii is for the carb heater which if its on to long will damage the engine easiest way to disable it is to take air filter off and you will see a red wire going to the carb its the top wire easy to spot soldered onto the carb just cut the wire sorted.
  12. im surprised they let you drive on the grass there usually very protective over it.
  13. cheers for that tip i got told that from my mate when i bought it so sniped the wire the day i got it
  14. i have a transit and that very same winch, i was going to fix it to the top of the tipper rail and make it so i could clip it in and off as and when to drag logs up into the back etc but, never got round to it. if you could send me pics of how you done that it would be much appriciated.
  15. i wonder how hard it would be to make the 200t have heated handles diy job wise?
  16. so after buying a new husky 372 with heated handles and thinking why didnt i have them ever before. i got thinking as mostly i do work in the tree everyday, can you get a stihl 200t with heated handles??
  17. exactly i did the dismantle by 10.30 had break then cleaned up the pine had some lunch, then the guy hus job it was who i took a pic of cuz no1 thinks he climbs anymore. he did that 1 and i did the 2 others by time he finished that 1 done by 3.30.
  18. yer mark the 3rd pic is a different pic they were actually smaller than the dismantle just had more branches not as tall they were the 3 deadwoods. i no right 90minutes is slow going, you would have got up half way and stuck a gob in and told the groundys to make sure they have at least 1 wrap on and to let it run
  19. why is that so hard to imagine, you can see from the pics theres no branch work on it hardly so its basically just all timber 10 or so lumps that are 5/6ft long and your down to where u can just slice it down in rings how long does that take..
  20. today was 60/70ft pine dismantle in a tight area, had quite a lean over the poly tunnel and shed behind the poly tunnel, then under the tree was a maze of flower beds and client was very picky with where we could tread etc shame i didnt have my helmet cam would have been a good vid lowered all branches and timber, but it was raining and i couldnt be bothered. anyways all done in hour and half then we deadwooded 3 more pines back tomorow for couple more pine deadwoods and the birch behind the pine dismantle coated in ivy lovely friday job
