  1. SWB, heard various reports of Swazzi, mostly good, what are they like to work in, prices etc..?
  2. ''Meetings with Remarkable Trees'' by Thomas Packenham ''Crow Country'' by Mark Cocker ''A Last Wild Place'' by Mike Tomkies and a wonderfully inventive ''Aesops' Fables'' type book called ''Pork'' by Chris Freddi
  3. Jeez ! Got any other historical tomes, apart from the 'Daily Mail book of British History' ?
  4. Mayweather will be a stiffer challenge than Cotto, far superior hand speed. Still, on that performance, difficult to see past the Pacman.
  5. Sky Sports 1, though if you don't do Murdoch, watch online - JustinTV is a good link.
  6. Surely that deers' called Damian ?
  7. As stated above, he hasn't got a case, I think you're being more than generous with your offer.
  8. Went to stay with a mate in France a couple of weeks back. It's the norm over there to cut your logs from your own patch of woodland and leave them stacked roadside - and guess what, no one would dream of nicking 'em.
  9. 24.5 ton. Don't want the rake. Can you change it for an oar.
  10. 5 years, chill matey, it can get a lot worse than this. That being said, Met office are giving a severe weather warning for this evening and tonight - and another one for Monday, just in case theres any danger of us drying out. Right, back to the building work - though I might stop the partition wall and start on an Ark.
  11. Great opportunity for someone, would have jumped at it a few yrs back. Aren't Bonobos the 'hippy chimps' that solve all potential conflicts by 'making lurve'and even greet each other with vigorous humping. At home in the trees and sex obsessed - ring any bells with anyone?
  12. Forecast is terrible today, so its a bit of home improvements - putting in a new doorway and stud walling. Either that or wait until I grow gills.
  13. I'm really no fan of any of them to be honest, but the thought of Cameron's cronies getting in makes my blood run cold. The fact that the future leader of this country, his Chancellor, 1 possibly 2 of his Cabinet, and the mayor of the Capital city attended not only the same privileged University but were also members of the same exclusive, super-rich club, says a helluva lot about social mobility (or lack of) in this country.
  14. Yep, thats Camborne alright...
  15. Have you been back to Camborne since?
  16. Try doing footpath clearance with a strimmer head on a hot sunny day in an area popular with dog walkers -
  17. Back in yer box, CJ ! Don't need to plant any for the squareheads. The colloquial term down 'druth for a group of Cambern' boys is a 'thicket' - so theres yer extra acre!!!
  18. I did a calculation a few years ago and worked out a minimum of 5 acres to be self- sufficient. So I planted 6 !
  19. The following is from my own personal observations, not a peer reviewed scientific study, but my humble opinion - Elm spreads as much by sucker as seed. Supposedly 'dead' Elms often send up suckers that grow for 20+ yrs before succumbing to disease again. This is long enough to put enough energy back into the plant to enable it to repeat the process again, possibly until either the disease disappears or the tree becomes immune. If the 'dead' stool is removed by, say, a farmer taking the opportunity to enlarge a field or an over zealous Local Authority, then that Elm is lost for good. I've got Elm on some of my hedges that have been through this process at least three times since the original outbreak, and are still sending up vigorous suckers. Cornish Elm are reputed to be more disease resistant than English, but still eventually succumb. Proximity to the coast may give some protection, as the beetle that carries the disease cant always locate them. There are still many fine specimens down here. As already mentioned, Dutch Elm (or similar) has struck before and either died out naturally or trees became immune. Given a long enough time scale, I cant see why this wont happen again. As I've said before, all of this is just my own opinion:thumbup1:
  20. Could equally be said that he has been a key figure and cheerleader in a government whose policies have led to 'global financial meltdown'.
  21. Yeh I can go with that, another class film. Not a big fan of Lock Stock, Vinnie Jones just rubs me up the wrong way. One dimensional mediocre footballer turns one dimensional mediocre actor. All this 'Cockernee 'ard man' bollox - liked to have seen him on a Rugby field. 'Apocalypse Now' - now theres a quality film. Just avoid the Re-dux version.
  22. Sorry, couldn't resist. ( Great film by the way. in my all time top twenty.)
  23. Many people, and not just older people, don't have a clue what a m3 looks like and find it easier to visualise a pick-up or Transit load, as thats what the competition use. I used to advertise price per m3, but got fed up constantly explaining how much that was. Now all my customers know what a load is (half tipper load) or double load (full tipper) - and I've never been busier.
  24. What did you expect, a Hagler / Hearns style tear up ?? It's Boxing, not MMA!! If it was a street fight or bar-room brawl my money would be on Valuev every time, but thats the beauty of the fight game. Haye used his head and out boxed the Russian. He was hardly going to stand and trade with him was he?
