  1. Here are the images... Original working setup: New setup: I have a couple of Ultra O's on their merry way. So what am I doing wrong?
  2. Hey Paul Im still using the same hitch, I really like its simpleness... Gonna upload some pics now. (Now I am the devil incarnate!)
  3. Cheers Mat, Ive seen this pic before somewhere I have a short VT, just 5 wraps then 1 turn... It works great with the original usage. Ill take a picture today. Cheers
  4. Yep I agree, hobbs are fantastic and change the way you work. Wish I had one here Who is climbing Paul?
  5. Yeah yeah, ok ok. Im using what Reg showed me a few years ago... If it aint broke...
  6. Nope but will get one tmrw... Im using VT not VTT, with 10 milli silverstreak, works great with the other way.. Maybe I should stick with that?
  7. So I have been using my hitch-climber not in its full capacity, Ie just as a slack tending pulley, with the dead end of my rope clipping onto my harness' D. So I thought i'd try it properly. I don't have an eye in my rope, so I tie a big bowline, with deadend crab into the top hole and went for a climb.... Everything seems cool... until I want to give myself some slack in my system, say to advance out on a limb. With the other technique its very easy, but this way... the working end isn't as easy to work with. What am I doing wrong? Does this make sense? Any help/tips? Think I might just stick with what's comfortable. Cheers
  8. Just get the best anchor point and highest possible, with an undamaged tree (ie where the top hasn't blown out) and nothing hindering the path of your rope (Ie lower branches) you should be able to reach most parts of the tree Good luck

  14. Ha! I too had an old Polo, and once, driving home from Chester, something broke, and the accelerator was on full tilt. I opened the hood, found the problem (broken spring on the carb), had a look around, found an elastic band, and Robert's your dad's Brother, that rubber got me home, and lasted until I used a stronger rubber band
  15. Josh I do this when possible, In fact we loaded the trailer using rigging better then we could have used a loader! And have felled onto the trailer too Im not talking about loading firewood, Im talking about big chunks of wood, and my boss ain't spending any money on machinery, he thinks we are machines. Even a simple winch could be used, to drag the log dolley up some ramps, but we don't have one...
  16. How do I apply? Its snowing in New York
  17. What would you do if you couldn't do trees anymore? For what ever reason, you couldnt be a tree guy, what line of work would you do?
  18. So what methods do you use to get wood onto the trailer/transit/whatever, without expensive loaders/machinery. Im tired of loading wood by hand with two other guys, its back breaking and tiring. We do it at least 3 times a week, Im trying to think of other ways, without spending money on dingos, skid steers etc. Any ideas welcomes
  19. Guys that was amazing!

  22. Ok, I did a job where it required me to have 41, I didn't have it, so the answer was to have a guy onsite who had 41 to supervise the work. This was for Connaught, so that is the way around it.
  23. Ay up 2Bob! I recognize you now
