    Tim nice drawings but new school isn't much good. The pulley set half way out on the limb needs to be to the right above the gap between fence and garage, so it swings away from the roof. And he hasn't got his hard hat on either

    exactly. The only way to learn is to try stuff out yourself! Ive done some crazy stuff and have become better for it. Take your time, know what is going to happen before it happens, take control, and be safe.

    Plenty of options. First setup a few pulleys in the tree, setup a 5:1 system on the deck, tie off the butt end to wear it has broken off, attach the end of the 5:1 just passed the centre of gravity and lift it off and away from the roof, (even easier with a mechanical rope puller if you have one) and lower it between the garage and fence.
