  1. Gutted I can't make this one but you know were I stand for next year
  2. Scott, ArborCAD will only work AutoCAD 2013 and below (we've got it working on 2014, but only on 1 computer) as Chris Skellern has completely wiped his hands of it.
  3. With it being my first conference, and being sent through work, I was pleased it was the full three days. Work didn't mind the cost as they know it's all about the development and send at least one member of staff for the full 3 days each year. If I was paying for myself (now I've been once), I would look at the itenarary and pick which 1 or 2 at a push I'd prefer from a speaker point of view. I did enjoy the social side of it mind:biggrin: Sent from my phablet
  4. Since getting the consultancy position, i've found my CPD to be brought to the forefront and important for career progression. The company i'm at actively encourage us to develop and record out CPD. The aim at the end of two years is to become Chartered (MICFor) hopefully. Since July last year I have, through work: Spent all 3 days at the AA conference in Exeter; Received training in AutoCAD; Been on a number of VTA training days through work; and currently studying to sit my Field Identification Skills Certificate, so i can do phase 1 habitat surveys. In my own time since July (and previous): I have attended a number of AA and ATF run day sessions, shows and presentations I find it harder being in the north as a lot of courses and presentations are population led (i.e. in the south), but i try not to let it stop me where time and money allow Hope to do a lot more in the coming months
  5. My brother is getting a log burner soon and wants to start building up a log store/pile now. How much for transit/decent trailer load of green/unseasoned and ringed (about 6-8in) wood delivery to WN6 Just asking for prices that's all. If I need to go through official firewood listings please let me know. Cheers Sent from my phablet
  6. Not seen that one Marco, will go and investigate:thumbup: Sent from my phablet
  7. Just out of curiosity, how do I attach more than one picture at a time on this new arbtalk update? Every time I try it overrides the initial photo I attach, can't seem to do more than one? ? Sent from my phablet
  8. Managed to get an afternoon with work and walk around Dunham Massey. Some awesome oaks and beech Sent from my phablet
  9. In fact on a side note, many of us would go the extra mile and make (in this example) the 5 cuts instead of 1 or 2. Purely out of interest, no criticisms here Sent from my phablet
  10. I probably should have elaborated a bit more than what I did My cuts were purely in the interests of the tree, I can hear however, after getting down the phrase "can you just......" Blue is doable, Red as mesterh states, would need the lateral reducing first and not the greatest for the tree. We all know however, that in more cases than than not, the tree lives on. It just looks unsightly:lol: Sent from my phablet
  11. I'd cut it here Sent from my phablet
  12. I suppose the fact that: a) we, as a climber are not travelling at very fast (light) speeds (S.R.) and; b) our mass isn't very dense (G.R) Then we don't need to worry:biggrin: Unless we cut our single rope........... (sorry, joke) I've suddenly rediscovered a love for maths and physics:biggrin:
  13. Resi all the way:thumbup: Nice find too
  14. Good post Jules but.... (minor correction:lol:) Newton's laws of which you quote are about motion not dynamics. The F=ma is Newton's second law. The popular phrase "for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction" is his third law (for anyone interested his first law was about inertia and mass). And isn't all motion relative anyway:biggrin: Queue Einstein retort:001_tt2:
  15. What about a "return to top" button at the end of the thread conversation. Especially useful if you have your browser set to view 40 posts like me. Am the buttons, search, forums, directory etc are at the top and disappear when scrolling down. Or, even "freeze" the top frames where the buttons are, like in Excel so they are always there and handy?
  16. TEP is seeking arboricultural consultants with a range of experience to join the rapidly expanding arb team. For more details click the link below:biggrin: Jobs | TEP – The Environment Partnership
  17. Group of trees.... Spec said - "Prune and Pollard tree (singular)" ?????
  18. Wow, what an experience....! The picture, 4th row down 1st left shows a great multitude of defence mechanisms trees have in place to survive in places like that. What type of Acacia was it? Cool pics, thanks for sharing Marco:biggrin:
  19. Everything in moderation I'm not on a diet (using this in reference to what constitutes a "diet", not for weight loss)anymore (did the 5:2 thing and it works), just find myself eating healthily, with a little treat every now and again. Have the odd day where a vegetable doesn't even pass my lips but they are few and far between. The key is exercise, and plenty of it. Stay active and I can eat what I like, within moderation... What works for one man, may not work for another. I'm with Tony S on this one, I must be invincible...! (quick, where can I touch some wood:lol:)
  20. When abouts in Gambia was that?
  21. Will get some over the weekend
