  1. No, far from it. Like most people, I have had various beloved pets over the years and have sometimes had to make the heartbreaking decision to do what I think is in their best interests and have them "put down". The quote from the article "Fitzpatrick admits that he has become a last hope for desperate owners who have run out of options for their beloved pets..." sums up my problem with this kind of thing in that it seems to be for the OWNERS' benefit and the longterm welfare of the pet involved comes second to that. Also, I feel a little guilty that I initially laughed at the poor lil' thing .
  2. Whaaa...??? A natural born hunter confined to a house with effectively two open wounds for the rest of it's life NOT wrong? Gawd, I'd hate to be reincarnated as one of your pets.
  3. Oscar the bionic cat after pioneering surgery gave him TWO false back legs | Mail Online Is it me or is this simply WRONG WRONG WRONG??? (No comments, please, about me reading articles from The Daily Mail )
  4. My first thought was Giugnardia, but without piccies that's just a guess. This may help: Forest Research - Bleeding Canker of Horse Chestnut - Other common pest and disease problems of horse chestnut
  5. The pyrethroid deltamethin is extremely effective, but it is also highly toxix to everything else it comes into contact with . BT (Bacillus) is more specific, but not quite so effective. IF you do decide that spraying is the option that you are going to opt for, the dead critters still need to be collected and incinerated. Edit - Oops, looks like I posted at the same time as MonkeyD!
  6. Have you tried any of the large, LA fix term Contractors that operate around that way? Ok, so perhaps it's far from ideal, but it's still payed work if nowt else is available. I know G&T have an office based down that away. Their standard of work is pretty good, but I don't know about their pay rates, etc. I can send you a contact name and number for them if it would be of any help to you.
  7. My temp. LA contract has just come to an end and I'm now looking around for survey / inspection work, preferably in the NW London area. I'm still PAYE, but contemplating going SE again. If there's anything available, I can email / PM my up to date CV over. Jane.

  11. Quit ya whinging - I thought I was being really civilised by not txting you at about 6am when I was first on site Because I didn't get an INSTANT response, I wasn't sure if you'd got the piccy or not. Being on your jollies in the gorgeous county of Cornwall is a poor excuse not to reply to me
  12. Not a picure, but this may be of interest to any orchidophiles : WELCOME

  16. OK, so they may not even be considered big-ish (the larger tree is only c. 6m x 8m), but they are definately "Aurea"; there's no mistaking that awful chlorotic colouring! They're in Hanger Hill Park W5, if you are ever stuck on the A406 North Circular you'll be able to see them
  17. Oh the conundrum: need work to pay for all those minor issues like insurance, but can't pay for such things until I get work... I haven't Googled any companies as yet as I was hoping for a recommendation to make life easier. This has given me a starting point - thanks.
  18. It's got to be better than that godawful place in Hamstead. Have you ever been there??? I'm definately at the LTOA / OPM meeting at Syon tomorrow - possibly acting as a glamorous assistant to the FC as I have been working alongside them for the past few months doing the OPM monitoring in Ealing.
  19. Advice needed, please. To echo a couple of the previous threads, I'm thinking about setting myself up as a sole trading Consultant, but I am totally naive about where to get insurance, how much cover to go for, how much to expect to pay etc, etc... I have been working for various agencies over the years, mainly doing work for L.A.s and I have gotten thoroughly sick of the amount the agencies charge compared to how little I actually recieve . I have been self employed in the past, so that side of things I'm OK with, but any advice on the insurance side of things would be most welcome.
