  6. It's because the manager in the Vancouver Richmond office is a complete prick i would say that that is the only office to avoid in BC but i would say things are a little different to the uk a lot of big trees in tight spots and unqualified ground men who know very little = interesting days
  7. \you need to find a company that has a Labor Market opinion in place or willing to get one you need to be experienced and qualified. 17. You can try Chris at C Ball forestry he is in Clitheroe nr preston he has a web site so not to hard to find
  18. arguably it does take more skill to work within the rules that's why people break them, but the point i am trying to get across is that if 1000 arborist's read this and think its ok then you have 1000 people of different skill levels one handing with a chainsaw which can cause catastrophic injuries in a split second, that could end someones one career and why, because they read on arbtalk it was ok to do, saved time and money and is the sign of a good arborist. sorry but i beg to differ. challenge yourself for one week to use both hands and see what you think makes the better arborist one hand or two
  19. Why would you need to keep on repositioning and positioning to use a hand saw, maybe a very entry level climber would be able to save hours as they take so long to do anything in a tree, but i was talking about a reasonable climber with average tree climbing skills when you get better you will not take so many hours in a day positioning and re positioning giving you time to use a ms200t in a safe and efficient manner " Both Hands "
  20. Has any one thought that it may be safer to use the silky one handed if it is out on a limb and not supposedly safe enough to use a climbing saw with both hands if you are that far out, the limbs wont be that thick so won't be a problem going through them with a hand saw i know that most people prefer the lazy option of one handing in the the name of production but really are the jobs priced that tight that you need to go that far to save a few seconds and risk weeks off with a chainsaw injury, just a thought!!
  21. I have been in the tree work industry since 1991 and used my top handled saws thousands of time with one hand and not had an accident but over the last few years my eyes have been opened to the fact that it's not a matter of if it happens but when it happens, sloppy use of the saw leads to sloppy work and going about your job in a processional manner = using tools and equipment safely and within the boundary's of its design, it is harder and some times more time consuming to do the job that way but requires more skill and makes you a better arborist at the end of the day. "just because a lot of people do it the wrong way that doesn't make it right" I no longer use a top handled saw one handed.
  22. Here are a few photo's from the last few weeks ill get some more together. There are loads of interesting tree stuff here ill add at later date

Thanks for that I have been here a month now working for davey tree they sorted the whole process for me it took about 2 months for them to get the labour market opinion the i could have moved straight away its good working out here, very expensive in Vancouver but the wages are better and they are looking for more UK climbers as there is no formal training available in Canada believe it or not apart from on the job
