  1. Hi, I am flying over to Vancouver on the 2nd April, I am in the process of applying for Permanent Residency but still waiting but it should be anytime now. Unfortunately circumstance mean I have to fly over but I'm not legally allowed to work until PR comes through. However I am putting the feelers out about possible work opportunities so I have sent you a copy of my CV. Liam B
  2. I am going to Canada once my permenant residency has been approved hopefully feb time, as a part of my application i had to show evidence that i had contacted possible employers. I have submitted my CV to various companies and they are all keen to talk about possible work when i finally arrive in Canada. There does seem to be a demand for UK climbers as we have experience of climbing without spikes. Check out Indeed.ca job site there are plenty of Arboricultural jobs on there to give you an idea of what is avaliable. Be warned though Canada is hard to get into even if you have a Canadian Wife like myself. If you get sponsorship from a company you have to stay with them for 3yrs. I was offered sponsorship with Davy Tree Experts but it was bad timimg and it would have made my application for permenant residency difficult so had to turn it down.
  3. Climber with 17yrs experience, NPTC units, NC, HND Arb some utility tickets and owns saws, rigging and climbing equipment. Need 3-4 months work as emigrating to Canada in Feb. Currently working in utility sector as permissioner for just over a year and need to get back in to the trees.
  4. I did not realise I had signed up with arb talk until I tried to register again, so had remember what my password might have been 5yrs ago!

    Canada

Hi dan I am relocating to Canada in 2014, fortunately for me my soon to be wife is a Canadian citizen and her family are sponsoring me so all the paperwork stuff is sorted. But trying to get some contacts built up over there so hopefully have a job to go to. I tried to apply for a work permit to see if I would qualify as a skilled arborist I have nc/hnd arb most cs units, utility tickets and 16 yrs experience and came up short on the points needed I did not qualify for work permit. You need to have a job offer, there are jobs over there but they want experienced people that are going to hang around for more than 6 months as they have to go through the process of sponsoring you and justify to the authorities that need to employ you and that they can't get experienced employees locally.
  6. Just wondering if there is there anybody out there that has had any experience of getting work in Canada? I am moving over there in 2014 if all goes well, will be going to Vancouver area. Hoping there's not to much issue with permits as my soon to be wife is canadian and her farther works for local government on Vancouver island within the forestry industry and offered sponsorship. I am trying to get a job in the pipeline before I make the move. So if anybody has any advice regarding work, qualifications and experience needed I am all ears.
