  1. :confused1:Mirrors come as standard though.... I agree for reversing up to a trailer although i am fortunate that if i tip the back up a bit i can see to the drawbar of whatever i am hitching to, and its very rare that i am hitching up when loaded.
  2. You'll be lucky down here- in the land where even a non running piece of crap seems to be worth the earth...
  3. Ah. No, this guy is of cypriot extraction- very dark hair:cool1:
  4. Thanks for great pics David. Would much rather have been there than monster -in-laws do!! Deffo in the diary for next year...
  5. Started doing logs for home use in the local woods when i was about 15- started out with pushbike, bow saw and general purpose axe, not splitting maul:scared1:. After a year persuaded my old man to get a chainsaw. Started in earnest in about 97, and have been at it since then. Bought a chainsaw mill in 99, and got my mobile bandsaw about 4 years ago. Had about 3 years doing alot of stonework in the middle of it all aswell, and finaly learnt to climb 'properly' (note inverted commas:sneaky2:) about 2 years back. Jeez, never thought about it all like that!
  6. I had a climber in all this week who has been climbing for the last 20 years and is fluid, faultless, fast, (cant think of any more 'f's lol) and works really really hard when he comes down out of the tree. He refuses to accept more than 120 a day even when he drives 25 miles to site. How does that fit in to the model? Then again i did 2 days for one of cornwall longest standing tree firms and would have happily taken that money, bjut they paid me 400 for the 2 days, and i am absouloutely defininteley not the best climber out there, and they are having me back for a day next week. Its kind of an impossible question to answer i reckon. I know that i cannot afford to earn less than 120 a day just to pay the bills. I think that that has a lot to do with value.
  7. And heres one i actually performed.......not that this is a recording of me though!
  8. Not generally a fan of solo piano, but this Chopin etude has always been a fave! YouTube - Chopin Etude Op.25 no.11 "Winter Wind" (Pollini)
  9. That was a beast if ever i saw one!
  10. That was at Pencarrow House, down the house end of the main drive if you know it. Bend round to the right at the house end of the main drive, and there is an ilex on your right, you cant miss the fungus. Those are awesome pics there- i saw some good perenniporia up near Wadebridege last week, (not that i knew it was that until i saaw your photo though:blushing:) but ot on that scale!
  11. Cool pics. Looks much better now all that rubbish has been felled!
  12. Hi guys, anyone i.d this one. Was very hard, not spongy, and was pouring water out of it. On a q.ilex. Thats all i know, its a pic from a mate.
  13. Nice vid Tom. My favourite cut!
  14. Shiny lacquer....? What about a clear furniture polish or even a clear varnish? I have found that to really make danish oil shine takes a lot of work with wire wool between layers. Is this not the case on a lathe or is that normal? Not that i am using a lathe, just on planks/ boards etc. and on hand carved bowls.
  15. Mawnan Smith, nr constantine falmouth. Where the hell is trevingy??
