  1. I heard you use your whippets to beat your wives......or was that the other way round??LOL
  2. The wood is pretty crapmate. Although very resistant to decay it is also very brittle, and unsuitable for construction use. It is good for shingle making and cladding, bugt has a tendency to shatter, although as you are using a crane you should get away with it. I have a feeling it is pretty fire resistant too. Certainly the bark is non-flamable.
  3. This is what i thought- they are saying in the ad that it was traditionally for trailer beds etc as it is so strong??????? I have never heard that before.
  4. Bleed the clutch? It sounds like it could do with new fluid? That stuff absorbs water over time. Flush it out and bleed through the slave cylinder with fresh stuff.. Its a PITA and i have found that a new slave cylinder can be required........steel bleed nipples and ali castings....say no more.
  5. just saw this ad on ebay- can anybody shed any light on it- particularly the bit where it describes how poplar is strong and rot resistant or something. Poplar Hardwood timber board plank wood trailer wagon on eBay (end time 09-Oct-09 18:08:23 BST)
  6. That is looking a load better now. Any chance of any pics of the water feature?
  7. Chap i know had it- tree surgeon- 6 weeks and he was back at it, strength wasnt 100% for a month or so after. That was last winter, hes right as rain now.
  8. Congratulations Jo, and thanks for putting that up!
  9. Yeah fully- really enjoyed it, and honestly thought i would have bottled it at about 70'. Good job i didnt- it was 62' to the first limb!!!! It took an hour to get to the top from the moment my mates feet left the ground. We werent racing though, and he stopped at the first limb to install the friction saver we had forgotten to put in from the ground:blushing:- both had a liquid supper the night before, bit fuzzy and keen to get to the top!!:laugh1:Bought a copy of nat geographic on the way.......and felt like an amateur:thumbup:
  10. Deffo VOSA. I have described what happened to my missus before, so wont derail andy's thread any more, but to get a lorry took off the road for a missing rivet is taking the p big time, especially when the cop argued with vosa man that he was being out of order. (this was the last of four occasions when she was stopped.)
  11. Awesome kit- big mogs and big vermeers..........cool!
  12. When doing step cuts i prefer to make them vertically rather than horizontally on the branch- less chance of trapping/ losing the saw. Again, species variant.
  13. Climbed this one today- pics dont do it justice....the tape measured 141 feet at my highest tie in point, about six foot from the top!!
  14. Its brown oak isnt it? My table has that colouration.
  15. Wow, it took me ages and a rant to say that!!
  16. Rob that is not a lot of info really, but going on it surely ebay must have an address for him or can get it, as i am sure thay would be interested to hear if you havent already told them, as it sounds lie a breach of the rules. How long ago did it happen? Does he/she not have a time limit on contacting you, under ebay rules, which may not be up yet? I dont understand how you cannot contact him through 'myebay' section of the site? I hope you get it sorted either way mate. Thats a pretty unusual and crap way to carry on by them.
  17. Love those big blowers- you look a bit like a lego space man with one of those on!
  18. Its only to do with the saw as far as i was taught.
  19. We seemed to have escaped lightly- breezy day, but thats it really.
  20. I dont think it had anything to do with luck. That truck, which sounds like a TM BTW, was registered as a crane, so could run on red. It shouldnt have had a load, but the fact that they dipped a tank they KNEW had red in it and didnt pick up on the load, proves what a total waste of time and money the ignorant power crazy tossers really are. They are a private company that has to justify its existence, and most of its employees are ex bouncers or squaddies etc, not traffic cops who actually know the law. They also pick on targets that are guaranteed to pay up without a fight, which usually means transport firms who will just pay, or people in horseboxes or cattle lorries who arent prepared to put up a fight either. They are basicaly scum wasting taxpayers money that could be much better spent on improving public service instead of buying lots of man hours and flashy motors for vosa officials to drive around in. Not that i am bitter about them at all:001_rolleyes:
  21. :lol:I think ill join you. esp as both my electric meters and my gas meter are on keys!!
