  4. My friend Julia has a plan to memorialize a monster stump in tasmania here are some details; A music teacher with a passion for great trees went walking in the forest, seeking to admire the greatest trees in Australia. He came seeking the greatest one, only to find a monster stump, 24 meters in circumference. That girth is of historic proportions. A tree of that girth may not been observed in Australia since the 1880s. Old, giant trees are a rare and essential resource in forests. They provide the main habitats for animals, fulfill a number of other hard to replace ecological functions. As such, trees over 85 meters tall or 280 meters cubed are protected as part of Australia's cultural heritage. This group plans an expedition to the location of this felled giant to commemorate the great tree with artistic wood cuts, prints of its cross-section with a goal to share its beauty and create a national treasure to celebrate Australian forests. If you could like the group on Facebook that would be great, https://www.facebook.com/groups/Greattrees/
  5. I dont actually use this set up i just know you can, i like the neck elastic and tend to just use a pantin for most ascents, the neck elastic does stretch thats what makes it work so well.
  6. Used it this morning, works sweet, yeah I hand over hand Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  8. YOu install it from the ground as normal and you tie an alpine so it jams on the small ring, then when your finished you pull down on the small ring side and retireve it as normal, no photos im afraid mate. I am on about a cambium saver there is another anchor with just a ring.
  9. bungee as one pushes down it pulls the other up
  10. My kit was in my Ute so figured i would throw it together for you. Ignore the monkey tail thats just in place for my bridge ring, MY knee ascender is just a butchered hand ascender. Wrench thether courtesy of Tommy B, neck elastic to advance it all.
  11. Its the evening here mate so will have to grab a photo tomorrow if thats okay, its pretty simple.
  12. Revolver is a no crossloading a krab and the possibility of the gate rubbing open, A bob or a F8 bunny ears with a krab work great, a locked of ring and ring is good as it doesn't matter how many redirects you take. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. I use a similar set up but I run a small pulley with some bungee to my knee ascender from my bridge ring it's all tiny and clips together. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. Use a bit of bungee on the hand ascender pulled tight and attached to the rope wrench. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. No that was done at the end of the day for a bit of fun, neither Grant or Joe thought it would work, I agree with Onelab and Atree what's wrong with doing something just to see what happens. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. I agree with this 100% Adam I have always said if you want something to selftend go mechanical a solid reliable hitch is far better than a loose one. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. The whole point of the exercise was just to see what would happen, they had covered proper rigging techniques earlier in the day, they did not want the log to run they just wanted the log to stop. It was setup so it was to be lowered off of the stub that can be seen on the left, I think it would be a struggle to find a block that would fit 40mm rope. Before it went over we were all asked what we thought would happen were it would or could go wrong and why. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. SLowly is how i work haha, 30c is not as bad as 42c!

  20. Mate im not trying to wind you up, im only stating that facts around slack tending, i enjoy discussing about the HH no i havent used it my local store here has just got one in, but im taking what you say about it and just using my knowledge of SRWPing and applying it in order to myself have a better understanding, i find you some times act as if the HH is the Dogs dangleys for reasons X,Y and Z and im just trying to show that its not just the HH that offer these advantages as they all seem pretty simple im trying to really find what makes it that different that you are passionate about it. I wouldnt say pushing the HH up a rope as a refined technque its a bit like a prussic in that sense, my point was that in order to advance one handed a pulley is useful that is all, I wouldnt say it was different its a hitch based system with a hitch that needs to be tended. There is alot i feel is wrong about the HH but this is obviously just from what i have seen. If your willing to preach about it mate you need to take questions and criticism im not picking on you or giving you grief im just asking questions this forums about discussing so lets discuss.
  21. Its the afternoon here mate been 30c all day , im not angry i enjoy discussing with Oldmill thats whats this forums for i just want to make sure im understanding him properly, it was stated that with the RW you need the hitch to grab on a single line but you would with the HH wouldnt you? your comment was a bit vague for myself im more than likely going to pick one up when i have the spare cash.
  22. Pulling straight down on a single line isn't going to tend the device one handed though the act of pushing the slack tender against the hitch will advance it up the line which you can do one handed, sliding the whole device up the line can be pretty time consuming and your balance needs to be top notch, it's good when you can do it but sometimes you can't. 23. Saying that the rw needs the hitch to grab in order to work well that's just common sense so at you saying the Hh doesn't need the hitch to grab which by the look of it is wrong, I'm worried that people are looking at comments and are going to go out and hurt themselves because they haven't set things up right.
