  1. Its similar to the American Poison Ivy i really like mine it is softer in the hand than cougar blue but isnt as static, the cover of Arrowfrog feels smoother in my opinion, both work well srt and ddrt i would go with cougar blue for SRt and its pretty even between the two for Ddrt.
  2. I did post a link to his thread earlier but don't think anyone looked haha Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. I personally love my cinch i got fed up of a hitch's sit back and when it would jam up on me when covered with dust etc, i love my 6mm thimble very versatile bit of kit comes in handy more times than i imagine and can be used in rescue situations. Understand the point regarding the CE mark from Kevin half the time it doesnt grab straight out of the bag anyway, i can understand the able for larger companies that may be concerned regarding employees understanding and use of gear.
  4. Bailout is really heat resistant but is super thin something like 7.5mm, 10mm Armor pruss and 10mm Beeline are my favourites, HRC is good too but to thin for my liking i dont like OP not heat resistant enough.
  5. One issue either vortex is that ascenders don't run as smoothly up it, I find it still quite light but that's climbing srt not Ddrt I did rough it in on patch were my pantin came loose and it twisted on the rope. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. Rw works well with 11mm to around 12mm i use vortex which is 12.7mm but works really well, i think its more rope construction that effects the performance with the RW.
  7. Swear the orientation of the eyes are off on that theter. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. Tie tge rope in a big loop and wrap the prussic around both parts of the line and have to stopper knots at the end Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. Haha I remember that thread. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. Petzl rig can be used for progress capture Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. Srt has made me enjoy work, its nice to be part of something that is advancing through climbers using it rather than companies, It has cut out half of my kitbag, no need for complex srt systems, i got fed up of attempting to make a retrievable redirect that doesn't have alot of friction, no need for floating anchors or working off the access line. I can set a line and start work straight away no need to go to the top of the tree and set everything up. I prefer dealing with only a single line and when base anchored i love the fact i can adjust how much rope is in my system no groundies dragging the remaining rope out of my rope bag. All i need to access and work the tree is my hitch, the Rw and thether, a pulley and a krab everything else is added to make it easier for myself, i will never say its better than Ddrt but for me i prefer it.
  12. Natanoka its semi-curved so its the best of both worlds!
  13. The company I work for in Melbourne are currently looking for Arborists, feel free to send a cv to the company e-mail or phone the office, please don't contact me on here as I'm just a messenger for the company and don't actually decide who gets the job. Thanks Ewan. SEEK - Climbing Arborist Job in Melbourne

  15. I havent used my velocity single line but i would say Kernmaster is more static
  16. Its a good rope i like it alot for other reasons good in hand works well with ascenders and takes a hitch well and its really light but man is it bouncy, i have a 70 meter length and its bouncy over really long distance shorter distances its not that noticable.
  17. I wouldnt call it low stretch...
  18. Need two hands with a figure 8 though pretty sure you could manage with one, I like the idea of choking off a descender like a gri gri or a cinch or a srwp system for really quick bailout. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  19. Been hitting high 30s for the majority of Feb alto of bush fires going on in Victoria, have some heavy rain heading or way next week which will bring it down to a cool 27c. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  20. Adjustable FS or a pulleysaver/ropeguide is good choking your line with a running bowline etc works well if you have something that takes some of the friction from the hitch, i personally use a monkeys tail works really well
  21. I tried the recommend hitch ans it wouldn't grab so I tied one that would will mess around with it more to find one that's just right . Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. Thats donaghys NRG way better than the fly its my short line so it was easier than dragging in my 70 meter kernmaster to take a photo haha
  23. Well i caved... First impressions of the HH, Damn its heavy, its well made nice and compact, I found it a PITA to set up i dropped the bottom of it alot trying to hold the dogbone in place while tieing the cord that kept unravelling felt like i needed three hands, i dont like not having an easy way of advancing the HH, found that it slided up really nicely for the first few advances then my neck elastic would not shift it. Teding slack with it is weird sometimes it wouldnt budge then others it would feel really easy i understand regarding technique used to do it is different but i feel the RW just does it better there are more options regarding slacktending, I liked the fact there isnt anything above the hitch, i found it smooth for descent which was good. I hate the Dogbone not being able to use or tie e2es i think is a bit stupid i have had situations were i needed to retie cord and being able to quickly switch out my cord has been useful.
  24. Try the Petzl Airline is heaps better than zing it in my opinion and cheaper, it has fishing line running throw the middle of it so it doesnt pinch down really tight and tangles come out real easy!
