  1. I have heard nothing but bad things about the steins and nothing but good things about the huskies
  2. I have been toiling with the idea to make my own pruning saw handle, and just wondering if any one has done it here on AT if so if you have any pictures advice or instructions would be great. There is a photo in this set that shows a custom handle its on the bottom row just in case i havent described it well cheers Ewan:thumbup1: Work Climb - Rob Fisher, Industrial Photographer, Sydney Australia
  3. I recently bought some Blaze and really like it found it works well in pulleys, works well with my hitch climber, its very easy to tie knots in and it is very light. I have found it is slippy for instance i added an extra turn to my knut. I find i have to wear gloves to use it without my hands hurting. I wouldnt recommend Blaze or other 11mm ropes for use with a prussik or blakes, Imori may be the best middle ground your after as it combines some of the beniftis of both a 13mm rope and an 11 mm rope
  4. I really like my skylotec and found it pretty robust other than some slight frayng on the stitching on the leg loops, one thing that appeals about the treemotion is how customization it offers i dont just mean with the fit of it but the bridge and gear loops as well, the petzl sequoia is a great harness thats well built and some prefer it to the treemotion in comfort.
  5. Well done mate bet everyone is chuffed to bits with that.
  6. i have tried the Bashlins mate and even the carbon fibre geckos still havent really got on with any yet to really spend alot.
  7. Yeah i am mate loving it really lovely place and people are really friendly works fairly similar to the UK.
  8. Haha I have gone from pasty white to looking relatively normal! Tree wasnt that big only about 16 meters its was on top of a hill overlooking the bay so the aspect makes it look huge.
  9. Surely thats some of the appeal haha
  10. Thought i would post a link Wold Claw Tree Climbing Boot Harness
  11. Im living down in Bon Beach(Chelsea) mate have only been here a few weeks myself
  12. Im after a new set of spikes and have seen the wolf spikes on treetools and wondering if anyone on here has any experience with them as they seem very different to other spikes available Cheers Ewan:thumbup1:
  13. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyXwrXgN0qw]the F8 revolver - YouTube[/ame]
  14. Amazing, yeah the pole saw would have been able to do the cuts aswell but i didn't want to leave bad cuts as im not the best with a pole saw. Guess that's what i get for not being lazy haha
  15. The tree appeared in perfectly good health the union did not have any signs of decay or other symptoms i would usually be careful of, the photos aren't of the best quality i believe it was because of the previous pruning of the tree accompanied with the lever effect of my line pulling away from the tree as i moved to prune the house side, Thanks for the good wishes thought i would post as i know its not often it happens, and this thread would be a bit different from the best rope, boots etc threads. Climb safe everyone
  16. Its winter where i am lads im in Oz so no summer branch drop and no leafs, thanks for the comments think i was very lucky to come away with as little as i did, i think i may have hit the fence on my way down, cant really remember haha
  17. I have one other the tree was in fine health, and the break was pretty clean,
  18. Today i was pruning an ornamental pear and as i went to prune it back from the neighbours house my last few cuts and the stem as was anchored into snapped out about 2 meters below my anchor point, i fell about 4 meters into the neighbours garden somehow managed to land unscathed apart from a grazed elbows came very close to falling through a big window. Here are some photos.
  19. The guys said they dont pay tax unless the order is over Aus$1000, the price is almost tripled in some products so the delivery doesnt add to much on and still works out cheaper for them, I wish i just paid for excess bagage now haha
  20. Yeah its the same situation with most work equipment over here, the guys i work with all get their climbing equipment imported from the uk as its so much cheaper
  21. Im in Oz and thats the only thing they say when it comes to footwear that it has a steel toe, might get away with having two sets one for the ground and one for the tree, do you yourself Rupe have a pair you favour?
  22. Im after some climbing boots that arent chainsaw protective would ideally like them to have a steel toe and be waterproof but you cant ask for everything just wondering what people use or like so i can get an idea before i spend some cash Cheers Ewan
  23. I just wear a buff when its hot, its washable and fairly cheap and can be used all year round as it doubles as a neck warmer in witner
  24. Cheers everyone I'm currently sitting in Abu Dhabi airport 7 hours down 14 to go, I'm going out on my own and meeting the guy I'm working for on Saturday
